The Role:
The Senior Director of UX Design will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience strategy for our mobile-first, online ticketing platform targeting a young, tech-savvy demographic. As part of a highly disruptive business, this leader will manage a small, dedicated team of designers, driving innovation and excellence in our UX design efforts. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of user-centered design principles, a proven track record in leading design teams, and a passion for leveraging user insights and research to inform design decisions. This role demands a visionary leader who can implement cutting-edge design philosophies and best practices, ensuring our product remains at the forefront of the industry.

Additionally, the Senior Director of UX Design will be responsible for elevating design principles across the organization and seamlessly integrating within modern product development structures and rituals. The candidate will have experience in both optimizing existing experiences and taking products from zero to one, demonstrating an ability to drive product innovation and enhance user engagement throughout the product lifecycle.

What you'll do / own:

  • Leadership and Strategy:Develop and implement a comprehensive UX design strategy that aligns with the company's vision and business goals. Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of talented UX designers, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and innovation. Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve our UX design processes and methodologies.
  • Design Excellence:Oversee the end-to-end UX design process, from research and ideation to prototyping, testing, and final implementation.Ensure all design solutions are user-centric, data-driven, and meet high standards of usability, accessibility, and visual design.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a cohesive and consistent user experience across all touchpoints.
  • User Research and Insights:Lead user research initiatives to gain deep insights into user behaviors, needs, and pain points.Utilize qualitative and quantitative data to inform design decisions and measure the effectiveness of design solutions.Advocate for the user by representing their needs and perspectives throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Collaboration and Communication:Partner with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define and prioritize UX requirements. Communicate design concepts and rationale effectively to stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Facilitate workshops and design sprints to drive alignment and foster innovative solutions.
  • Performance and Optimization:Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of UX initiatives. Continuously optimize the user experience through A/B testing, usability testing, and other feedback mechanisms. Drive a culture of continuous improvement by regularly reviewing and iterating on design processes and practices.

A little more about you:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in UX Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in UX design, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in the ecommerce industry, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful mobile UX design projects.
  • Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools, ideally with Figma
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in using data to drive design decisions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A passion for ecommerce and a deep empathy for users.
