Trading Analytic Model Development Senior Director (Hybrid - 3 Days in Office, NY)

Position Overview:

The Senior Director position is part of an established technology team within the Investment and Capital Markets Division of Freddie Mac (I&CM)! The team has the broad goal of developing, maintaining new and existing components for I&CM trading platform, with priorities set by I&CM business needs. The Risk, Pricing and P&L team leads daily processes via the Mercury systems that leverages shared service components (e.g. analytics framework) from other teams. The current set of products traded include mortgage loans, mortgage securities, rate derivatives, US treasuries, and debt issuance securities.

Our Impact:

  • Build and lead teams to design, implement, and maintain Risk and P&L Platform and reporting components
  • Lead the design and development of risk and P&L calculation and reporting components for all I&CM trading desks (located in New York and McLean, VA) to include:
  • Risk Scenarios: system will provide what-if and scenario-based calculations
  • P&L attribution: explains root causes of P&L fluctuations
  • Bi-temporal calculations: develop tools to record and analyze historical risk calculations
  • EOD Valuation: compute fair-value price for the firm's portfolio of products and contracts
  • System requirements include:
  • Production resilience: system must be highly available with minimal downtime
  • High Performance: develop scalable calculations to maintain performance over large data sets
  • Responsiveness: system will be near real-time
  • Design and develop automated tests including Unit, Functional, Performance, Acceptance
  • Collaborate with Trade Capture, Data Services, and Pricing and Analytics teams to develop an integrated, purpose-built trading platform
  • Regularly interact with business leads to define functional requirements and ensure end-user satisfaction
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with team members, including the ability to challenge thinking and obtain consensus in sensitive situations, without damage to relationship
  • Engage users and product experts to define requirements; including desk based strategists / quants
  • Clearly craft and articulate messages (both written and verbal) to a broad range of audiences

Your Impact:

The Senior Director responsibilities will initially focus on:

  • Identifying design, architecture and other technical gaps including testing of the existing Mercury Risk, Pricing, P&L calculation, and reporting components
  • Stabilize and optimize Mercury system processes to minimize issues and incidents and to ensure better customer experience

Qualifications:

  • 15yrs+ experience developing software solutions through full lifecycle
  • 15yrs+ experience and expert understanding of OOP and OOD concept
  • 10yrs+ experience in designing and running Capital Markets trading systems
  • 10yrs+ experience and expert level programming skills in Java, C++ or similar
  • Extensive experience building Realtime Position, P&L and Risk management platform
  • Extensive experience crafting event-based service oriented architecture for Pricing and Risk Analytics services
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or related field; graduate degree preferred

Keys to Success in this Role:

  • In depth knowledge of fixed income products (esp. mortgage loans, mortgage securities, rate derivatives, US treasuries, and debt issuance securities)
  • Expert knowledge in the design and development of risk and P&L platforms
  • Experience Building risk systems

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $242,000 - $364,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
