At Freddie Mac, you will do important work to build a better housing finance system and you'll be part of a team helping to make homeownership and rental housing more accessible and affordable across the nation.

Position Overview:

This position plays a vital role in assessing Freddie Mac's ability to manage risk and compliance with regulations and guidance issued by FinCEN, FHFA, and OFAC. BSA AML/OFAC regulations require counterparties with whom Freddie Mac establishes contracts or conducts business to be screened through multiple internal and external watch-lists. You will be an integral team member responsible for the Quality Assurance (QA) oversight of Freddie Mac's counterparty screening process while also providing FIU support to the enterprise as needed. You will collaborate with cross functional teams at various levels to audit and validate alert dispositions and access the adequacy of remediation documents.

Your Impact:

    • Performing QA monitoring and oversight activities of first line QA processes including exercising effective challenge of first line QA processes and controls


    • Periodically review first line Financial Crimes risk management processes, controls and procedures for counterparty screening and others


    • Auditing and validating the appropriateness and sufficiency of watchlist alert dispositions identifying areas for improvement


    • Summarize QA oversight results with analysis in memorandums for senior management


    • Collaborating with and provide guidance to divisions on enhanced due diligence expectations and best practices; consult and enhance training job aids


    • Documenting appropriate second line procedures that comply with FM's Financial Crimes Risk Standard
      • Review and assess the accuracy of monthly and quarterly regulatory and enterprise watchlist QA metrics shared by the stakeholders


      • Summarize and report potential issues early and clearly for relevant audiences


      • Partner with internal partners, including senior management, to define and manage enhanced due diligence expectations and new QA reporting needs, QA dashboards and QA metrics


      • Deliver standard oversight memos and reporting metrics, while innovating on new ways to access and deliver information


      • Support the business in addressing and mitigating AML/OFAC screening and quality control reviews


      • Perform periodic quality reviews to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of alert dispositions; conduct a comparative analysis of documentation utilized to disposition alerts


      • Work with all divisions to evaluate the effectiveness divisional procedures and job aids related AML/OFAC screening and to evaluate the effectiveness of the QA program


      • Support, participate, and identify operational improvements and enhancements through daily work and special projects


      • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in related field) - advanced degree preferred


    • Typically has 8-10 years related experience and 2+ years management experience


    • Experience with BSA/ Anti-Money Laundering and OFAC requirements, as well as a working knowledge of how those requirements are operationalized preferably within a first line of defense


    • Ability to think critically


    • Confirmed experience with oversight activities


    • Creative problem-solving ability


    • Expertise in applying Financial Crimes, Compliance, or Risk Management fields

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $115,000 - $173,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
