Position Overview:

Are you ready for a challenge? If so, Freddie Mac's Investments and Capital Markets Division is searching for a top-notch candidate to join our Loan Portfolio Managing and Structuring (LPMS) group. Our new hire will be responsible for monitoring model performance, supporting portfolio management and hedging activities, providing transaction-related disclosure and ad-hoc analytics and reporting. The specific responsibilities for this position include the following:

  • Write programs to clean, coordinate and analyze large volumes of data.
  • Perform exploratory analysis and research and present results to both technical and non-technical audiences, visualize data to communicate complex ideas.
  • Developing analytic tools and investment and risk management strategies for Freddie Mac retained mortgage portfolio.

Our Impact:

Our team is responsible for management of Freddie Mac's Non-Performing Loan (NPL) and Re-Performing Loan (RPL) portfolio. This includes forecasting, hedging, understanding model use and model validation, understanding servicing policy impact, analyzing portfolio disposition strategies, as well as using the following transactions to reduce credit and market risk exposure and capital:

  • Seasoned Credit Risk Transfer (SCRT),
  • Seasoned Loan Structured Transactions (SLST),
  • NPL sale programs.

Your Impact:

Analytics, risk management, disclosure and reporting:

  • Using market research, transaction and servicing data, research trends in various loan pool subsets to support model dials.
  • Work with Single Family on data due diligence requirements, data quality check, loan drop criteria, review loan tape and loan population, manage and/or support final investor loan tape creation and ensure its data quality, provide exhibits and analytics for investor presentations as needed.
  • Work with RPL/NPL transactions post sale reporting data and support outcome/compliance audit.
  • Support LPMS portfolio interest rate risk management and hedging related automation.
  • Adhoc analytics for better understanding of LPMS portfolio, servicing policy and collateral behavior, and comparison to other market participants on transactions and portfolio profile.
  • Develop valuable processes to make investment decisions, analyzing pricing methodologies, develop disposition strategies, implementing process controls and operational policies and procedures.
  • Work directly with both internal and external parties on the buying, selling, securitization and structuring of whole loans and legacy agency MBS assets.

Qualifications:

  • College Degree or equivalent experience; advance studies/degree preferred. Typically has 5-7 years related experience.
  • Experience in mortgage credit risk management and analytics.
  • Experience in mortgage interest rate risk management.
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced trading desk environment and ability to deal with some degree of ambiguity

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $104,000 - $156,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
