The Mission, Equity & Legislative Affairs Department of the Legal Division (MELA) is currently seeking a Legal Analyst Senior for assisting attorneys in connection with legislative and regulatory analysis and monitoring, as well as supporting regulatory submissions on a wide range of matters including safety and soundness, affordable housing, new business initiatives, and fair lending. Our Impact:

Freddie Mac purchases almost a quarter of all single-family residence mortgages in the United States and provides liquidity to hundreds of billions of dollars of workforce and affordable multifamily housing. The Legal Division's MELA Department provides legal advice to internal clients on a wide range of issues related to Freddie Mac as a business entity, including financial regulatory, compliance and risk management matters affecting the legal and business environment in which Freddie Mac and other financial institutions operate. We also assist our clients in navigating complex requirements applicable to government-sponsored enterprises.

Your Impact:

  • Assist lawyers/attorneys in completing legal analysis, finalizing documents, and support on regulatory submissions.
  • Secure, prepare, draft and process legal documents. This includes the research, review and interpretation of legal documents for validity.
  • Oversee special legal projects.
  • Provide resolutions to an extensive range of complicated problems. Solutions are innovative, thorough, and practicable.
  • Work under limited direction. Work is evaluated upon completion for adequacy in satisfying objectives.
  • Represent the organization as the principal customer contact on contracts and often performs project leadership
  • Interact with senior internal personnel on significant technical matters frequently requiring coordination across organizational lines.

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of legal regulatory or legislative related experience
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience; work toward advanced studies/ degree preferred
  • Individuals should have detailed knowledge of legal customs/practices for examining, organizing, and processing legal document
  • Familiarity with computer technology, including internet applications, computer research tools and word processing applications (Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, SharePoint) and database management
  • Strong organizational and deadline management skills

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $90,000 - $136,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
