Position Overview:
The I&CM Division at Freddie Mac provides liquidity to the U.S. Mortgage Markets and makes funding more available by purchasing mortgage-related securities guaranteed by Freddie Mac and other financial institutions by issuing corporate debt. Our expertise in capital markets and credit risk management has helped us to lead the market in offering private investors new and innovative ways to invest in the U.S. residential housing market and actively reduce less liquid loans from our investments portfolio.

Our Impact:
I&CM Division Model Governance (DMG) is a first line of defense risk governance team. We act as trusted advisors for our business and model stakeholders as we proactively support them with governance activities throughout a model life cycle and lead model related compliance and operational risks for the division.
Your Impact:
As a Model Risk Governance Manager, you will be responsible for helping mature and implement model governance activities to effectively run model risk. This role will provide opportunities to broaden your business and risk savvy and strengthen your leadership skills. You will coach and develop junior staff. Responsibilities include:
- Implement and align with the Corporate Model Risk Policy and associated Standard(s)
- Collaborate with the Director to develop and implement divisional model governance processes and procedures that meet corporate requirements and create a risk-aware culture
- Significantly contribute to efforts to mature model governance capabilities and find opportunities to innovate, streamline and reduce inefficiencies
- Proactively manage governance activities for I&CM owned models, track various activities to ensure their timely execution
- Proactively work with Model Business Owners, Model Development Owners, and other relevant stakeholders in the division on model risk-related activities
- Manage model change pipeline and ensure timely UAT and implementation
- Build constructive working relationships within I&CM, peers across the company, ERM, Internal Audit and Regulatory Affairs
- Provide support to the model stakeholders during 2LOD oversight activities, Internal Audit exams and FHFA exams
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders and divisional governance teams to conduct gap assessments of applicable corporate policies/standards and applicable legal/regulatory obligations
- Work with model stakeholders and provide model related insights to the I&CM Risk & Control team during quarterly Risk & Control Self Assessments
- Periodically execute model governance related controls and assist in providing model related artifacts during control and SOX testing
- Proactively assist model stakeholders in timely remediating issues and 2LOD findings
- Work with stakeholders and Director to design and produce regular model related reporting
- Coach, manage staff and promote a high performing, result-oriented team
- Undertake ad-hoc projects as needed
Qualifications:
- College Degree or equivalent experience; advanced studies/degree preferred
- Typically has 8-10 years related experience and 2+ years management experience
- Solid understanding of capital markets model governance, and three lines of defense risk framework
- Gravitas to interact effectively with all levels, including Senior Management
- Exceptional organizational skills and can independently lead a project/assignment
- Strong attention to detail with an analytical mindset
- Self-starter with a positive outlook and a desire to continuously improve
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $143,000 - $215,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
