In this position...

As a Supplier Technical Assistance (STA) engineer, you will be responsible for industrializing and managing "Quality" and "Capacity" of commodities at Tier 1 Supplier sites on "new model program" launches and "in-series" production. New model program launches include, Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) and Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles. Depending on your assigned Supplier site locations, flexibility to travel within NA, MX and/or Canada is required (max. 3-4 days / week).

RESPONSIBILITIES

What you'll do...

  • Drive Flawless Launches at assigned supplier sites by conducting Launch Readiness Reviews
  • Conduct Quality is Job #1 (Q1) Manufacturing Site Assessment (MSA), identify gaps and establish/monitor Continuous Improvement Action Plans (CIAPs).
  • Support Capacity Purchasing Team in capacity studies by interfacing with Suppliers and Ford Cross Functional Team members
  • Drive capacity/uplift actions implementation with Suppliers in-line with the Global Capacity Planning (GCP) study requirements
  • Drive Supplier Process capacity issues resolution as needed
  • Review Supplier Capacity Analysis Reports (CAR) for compliance to uplift capacity requirements
  • Review and approve PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) for engineering changes and new tooled end items.
  • Drive on-time PPAP submissions by following up on project timing plans
  • Monitor supply status of 24/7 roster Suppliers and status of PPAPs beyond implementation timing using Ford recommended tools (ex. Blue Bar Charts)
  • Drive robust Supplier Failure Mode Avoidance through PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis), Special Characteristics Agreement, Control Plan, Manufacturing Feasibility reviews and Process Standards deployment, etc
  • Drive Supplier manufacturing "Process Standards" (Health Charts) compliance and support development of new process standards
  • Drive Suppliers for Special Process compliance with the support of STA Technical Specialists
  • Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing excellence with the assigned sites through Q1 MSA deployment, Q1 attainment / retention, Health Chart deployment, Supplier training as required.
  • Drive deployment & improvement of Quality performance requirements (Q1, Quality Rejects, Warranty Metrics - R/1000, CPU, TGWs), through Q1 MSA, Warranty Reduction, Benchmarking, Lean Mfg., G8D (Global 8 Disciplines) methodology, PFMEA, SPC (Statistical Process Control), Gage R&R (Repeatability and Reproducibility), etc., as required
  • Drive new Supplier Site Evaluations and Supplier Risk Assessment on new sourcing in support of Global Council Steering Teams, identifying Risk Mitigation.
  • Drive closure of Supplier process Quality issues related to Stop Ship/Build, BSAQ (Balanced Single Agenda for Quality) warranty projects and Field Action Stop Ship/Prevent Action
  • Drive compliance to all organizational and corporate training requirements and Supplier Improvement Metrics process compliance.
  • Travel within NA, MX and/or Canada, depending on assigned supplier site locations


QUALIFICATIONS

You'll have...

  • Bachelor of Science/ Engineering, or academic equivalent
  • Be proficient in English, both written and oral, when working with global teams
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process(es) of the responsible component commodities.
  • Experience in Quality Sustems, Problem-Solving tools and Techniques
  • Project Management Experience
  • Supply/Crisis Management Experience
  • 5+ years manufacturing experience in an operations environment

Even better, you may have...

  • Lighting, Mechanisms and/or Glass commodity experience
  • Experience with Tooling, Assembly, Stamping, Injection Molding, and/or Machining is desired
