RESPONSIBILITIES

What you'll be able to do:

Functional Safety Engineerpositions offered by Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, MI). Perform functional safety analyses including hazard analysis and risk assessment (HARA), fault tree analysis (FTA), hazard operability (HAZOP), fault tolerant time interval (FTTI), multipoint fault detection interval, sneak circuit analysis, and common mode common cause analysis for Connectivity, Comfort, and Convenience (CCC) features and platform systems. Perform hardware safety analysis including hardware failure mode effect and diagnostic analysis (FMEDA) and hardware fault metrics calculations (SPFM, LFM, PMHF). Support functional safety work product deliverables including impact analysis at item level, item definition, HARA, functional safety concepts, technical safety concepts and system architectural designs, safety plans, FuSa applicability, safety verification & validation reports, and development interface agreements. Derive functional safety requirements and technical safety requirements for CCC features and platform systems. Derive hardware software interface specifications and hardware safety specifications at the feature and vehicle level. Create safety verifications and validation reports to validate CCC features. Create development interface agreements to support supplier safety assessments of different modules associated with CCC features and platform systems. Provide support for system theoretic process analysis (STPA) on CCC features. Develop systems modeling using model-based systems engineering tools, such as Cameo Systems Modeler and MagicDraw/SysML. Support functional safety assessments of FuSa work products by performing verification and confirmation reviews. Create design verification method for CCC features and platform systems. Perform hardware-in the- loop (HIL) testing to validate functional safety requirements (FSRs) and technical safety requirements (TSRs). Create safety plans for various CCC features. Perform impact and applicability analysis for CCC distributed features. Coordinate with stakeholders of CCC features to integrate and refine requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

You'll have...

  • Requires a Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 2 years of experience in the position offered or 2 years of experience performing functional safety engineering including applying the ISO 26262 standard to automotive systems.
  • 2 years of experience engineering software-enabled systems
  • 2 years of experience working with cross-functional teams (calibrators, software engineers and feature engineers)
  • 2 years of experience creating model-based system engineering using MagicDraw
  • Employee reports to office in Dearborn, MI. Position may work from home, but must live within commuting distance of stated office.
  • Experience may be, but need not be, acquired concurrently.

We are offering a salary of $87,221 to $180,676 per year.
