Dimensional engineering is more than just the assembly of parts; it is all about paying attention to detail, proactive assessment of design, and data-driven decision-making. Bring your experience to create an exceptional product that delights customers at every touchpoint. As a member of the Ford Advance EV team, you will collaborate closely with various cross-functional teams including but not limited to the Design Studio, product engineering, manufacturing quality & operations teams to set and achieve meticulous quality standards for our vehicles. From the conceptual stage to production, your expertise will be integral in delivering a flawless experience to our customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

What you'll be able to do:

  • Identify and develop team skills to align with Ford's vision.
  • Train & perform Tolerance analysis for the Development of Body-In-White, Exterior, Interior & Closures
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5 - 2018) principles and their application in manufacturing and quality control.
  • Collaborative Problem solving - Create and collaborate with cross functional teams to address dimensional issues - design, production, and quality assurance.
  • Part Check fixture design - support engineering and manufacturing, Buy-off procedure.
  • Support Assembly Fixture design - with focus on dimensional accuracy and repeatability
  • Define and optimize Datum strategies for better product quality.
  • Develop / architect body build sequence based on manufacturing process size scope, body dimensional accuracy, process variation.
  • Support dimensional build activities during tooling try outs at launch to achieve stable, repeatable and in dimensional spec body prior to SOP.
  • Design and implement verification testing methods to validate targets.
  • Strong experience in Support Product Development through different build phases with focus on Quality Analysis & Quality Check Processes
  • Knowledge in creating and structure In-House quality Plans - CMM Program, In-Line & Off-Line Programs, Section Methodology
  • Measurement and inspection - Experience with the different measurement systems (coordinate measurement, vision, optical) and able to conduct measurements and inspections to verify dimensional accuracy.
  • Conduct and support dimensional feasibility studies.


QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum requirements we seek:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in automotive Dimensional Engineering.
  • Record of contributing to continuous improvement initiatives related to dimensional quality and process optimization.
  • In-depth knowledge of ASME Y14.5M-2009, ASME GD&T Certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of Production & Quality Control in manufacturing.
  • Strong numeracy, literacy, and logical reasoning skills.
  • Appreciation for dimensional variation in assemblies and statistical analysis.
  • Creative, constructive, and positive approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with technical proficiency.
  • Knowledge of various production and prototype manufacturing methods.
  • Knowledge of 3D statistical tolerance analysis using 3DCS.
  • Knowledge of DFMEA and DFMA.
  • Experience in Aluminum and Steel Body Structures.
  • Experience with Measurement Systems, Metrology equipment (ie. Faro Arms, Light Scanners, etc.)

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Excellent understanding of GD&T standards
  • Experience in developing 3DCS models
  • High level of expertise and proficiency with Catia, Enovia, or similar tools including drawing and modelling practices and methodologies
  • Hands-on experience building and launching automotive products
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications and other information management tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Certificate of Accomplishment from a recognized Design educational institution, or equivalent skills and expertise
  • Experience using Confluence, Jira
  • An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team
  • A system approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement
