We’re on the hunt for a Senior Accountant to join our European Accounting Team in Amsterdam! If you’re excited about Flexport’s mission, skilled in bookkeeping, and eager to grow your accounting career in a fast-paced scale-up environment, we’d love to hear from you.

 

The opportunity:

  • In this role, you’ll command the general ledger and become the go-to for all things accounting, partnering with our finance crew to keep us ahead of the curve. You bring sharp analytical skills, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team setting. You’re no stranger to high-pressure environments, delivering results in a dynamic, international, and growth-driven organization. As an early joiner, you won’t just crunch numbers—you’ll help shape how we scale. We live by “If you see something broken, fix it,” and expect you to bring that hands-on mentality, a questioning mind, and a can-do vibe with you from Day 1.

 

You will:

  • Own the Numbers: Ensure complete and timely execution of month-end and year-end close, reconciling general ledger accounts, and preparing accruals.
  • Master the Flow: Manage intercompany reconciliations and settlements, and  collaborate across regions to ensure transactions hit the ERP accurately and on time.
  • Lead the Change: Run independent discussions on monthly transactions, sparring with internal stakeholders inside and outside Finance.
  • Dig Deep: Conduct variance analysis and turn financial data into actionable insights for our top management.
  • Plan Big: Assist in crafting annual budgets, forecasts, and audit schedules.
  • Mentor and Grow: Guide junior staff, providing training and support as needed.
  • Break the Mold: Spot inefficiencies, pitch smarter processes, and watch your ideas transform how we work.

 

You should have: 

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics
  • 3+ years of accounting experience in private or public accounting
  • Mastery of accounting software (NetSuite or similar), and advanced Excel skills
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and financial reporting standards
  • Exceptional organizational, prioritization and planning skills, with proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Stellar communication skills - written and verbal - with the ability to present financial data clearly and compellingly to any audience
  • Fanatical levels of attention to detail, nothing slips past you
  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior staff is a plus
