To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Senior Simulation Engineer located in Prai , Penang or remote.

The Senior Simulation Engineer, working with customers, sites, segments, and groups, will be responsible for the design and development of simulation packages in order to meet customer requirements. From the design of concepts, through development into fully functional and tested simulations. Will also be responsible to work on innovative solutions that improves the usability of the software as well as integrate the software into Flex operations worldwide. Will lead definition of new directions and functionality for the overall corporate strategy. Will provide coordination of new project activities and support for ongoing manufacturing activities / problems related to simulation.

What a typical day looks like:
  • Analyzes and researches data related to operational metrics and manufacturing environments.
  • Must have extensive expertise in Discrete Event Simulation software to deploy in production environments.
  • Will use advanced software development techniques (in application, DBA, M2M and network programming) to create connected factory systems.
  • Must have expert level industrial engineering knowledge to use to set up manufacturing processes, optimize processes and solve operational issues.
  • Will use detailed Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma techniques to perform data driven operational decision while programming into DES software environments and using IE methodology to implement into operations environments.
  • Confers with all support team personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develop corrective action, method improvement to resolve problems and develop simulations.
  • Promote effective data management and visualization for projects within the space of Simulation and Modelling using Big Data Management Tools, and other methodologies.
  • Provide Global SME technical support to sites on DES Simulation, ensuring compliance and improved best practice in project executions.
  • Provide SME support to cross-functional teams in the areas of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies.
  • Performing Virtual simulations of processes and validating the same.
  • Responsible for creating discrete event simulation models to help in the design, development and launch of manufacturing facilities.
  • Collaborating with industrial engineers on simulations to balance production rate across processes, understand material flow, determine buffer requirements and maximize factory throughput.
  • Performing optimization and machine/operator/station utilization studies.
  • Train, coach and mentor site engineers to empower them with the simulation tool to meet their daily goals in the factory.
  • Developing innovative methods to improve the quality of simulation results.
  • Collecting relevant data for simulation and after the model run, providing improvement ideas to customers in order to increase production efficiency.
  • Effectively communicating and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders to drive the assigned task/project/program successfully.
  • Research and implementation of new technologies helpful to optimize simulation processes.
  • Prepares line or environment layout and design by using detailed drawings (i.e., visuals, Manufacturing Process Instructions (MPI), eWI, etc
  • Analyzes data and reports to determine if data meets functional and performance specifications for simulation.
  • Confers with other engineering personnel and prepares modifications as required.
  • Evaluates results for possible improvements of existing builds and operations.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks for further connectivity and integrated operations.
  • Coordinates engineering activities for the Customer Focus Team (CFT) and coordinates with the customer to resolve problems.
  • Develops and updates documentation to establish methodology and requirements.
The experience we're looking to add to our team:
  • Typically requires 4 years of experience in engineering in the high technology electronics industry or related area
  • Expertise in Discrete Event Simulation software (e.g., FlexSim, Visual Components, Simulate, Plant Simulation)
  • Experience working with 3D drawing software
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Industrial engineering knowledge
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma knowledge
  • Programming knowledge (preferred languages: C++, C, Python)
  • Teamwork skills
  • Decision-making skills
  • Project management experience (individual contribution)
