Senior Manager, Commodity Management Mechanical

Reporting directly to the Sr Director, Commodity Management Mechanical, in this role you will be responsible for developing and driving a team of procurement individuals to meet - and exceed - strategic goals and KPI's. You will be a key partner to the customer-facing organization to ensure alignment on commodity strategies, target setting and execution, including project implementation and escalations.

What a typical day looks like:
  • Develop and define corporate and strategic plans for the global Commodity team and manage team members to ensure implementation of the strategic initiatives.
  • Set and deliver on KPI commitments to GPSC. Collaborate intensely and continuously review opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead and manage regular supplier contract and pricing negotiations to achieve margin and cash flow targets.
  • Support internal vendor setup process to obtain best terms and to ensure a smooth and timely manufacturing ramp on new programs.
  • Be responsible for making final decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensure effective achievement of objectives. Be comfortable with major decisions that will impact profitability.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of strategic supplier relationships and act as escalation point for the executives in the event of major supplier issues.
  • Communicate and implement strategies, contracts, and pricing to achieve maximum advantage for the company and customers.
  • Work with the Supply Chain, Site and Quote teams on supplier and sourcing strategies including supplier selection, risk analysis and capacity assessment.
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Engineering and Quote teams to promote and position preferred suppliers early in the design phase and identify value engineering / improvements to drive competitive advantage. The role is responsible for obtaining competitive pricing and provide timely input to the quote team.
  • Establish credibility with customers through the demonstration of technical and commercial competence, especially within the plastics and resin industry.
  • Liaise with senior management to ensure all activities are compliant with corporate policies and guidelines.
  • Monitor Commodity market conditions, supplier technology roadmaps and assess supply/demand challenges. Gather relevant Market Intelligence and communicate to the internal GPSC marketing teams as needed.
  • Work closely with management to develop resources to add value to the commodity function regarding performance management and talent acquisition. Ensure succession and training plans are regularly updated and maintained.
The experience we're looking to add to our team:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or materials management or equivalent related operational experience
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience in procurement field, including at least 5 years in a people management role
  • Strong negotiation skills, to make clear agreements with suppliers and internal organization.
  • Strong understanding of resin supplier landscape, technologies, and costing.
  • Successful track record of managing suppliers in a large organization.
  • Advanced English
  • Ability to interface and communicate with different levels of the internal and external organization
  • Self-starter who is capable of proactively defining priorities as well as develop value-add solutions and track actions tom completion.
