Job Summary
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Senior Engineering Manager located in Austin, TX.
Reporting to the Director, Operations Engineering the Senior Engineering Manager is Responsible for specifying, designing, installing and maintaining automation equipment, tooling and applications as required to meet specifications.
What a typical day looks like:
- Take leadership during the entire life cycle of automation projects, from concept to feasibility and from fabrication and test to production.
- Define, develop and deploy automation into Flex sites. Design the layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency and safety.
- Design and engineer moderate and complex automation equipment, tooling and applications
- Prepare RFQ's and solicit quotations from automation suppliers. Evaluate supplier quotations to determine the best combination of technical solution, cost and timing.
- Develop budget and schedule for projects and manage projects to stay within them. Able to quickly cost analyze and work up the financial justification for automating
- Conduct equipment design reviews and provide design guidance to suppliers.
- Manage automation suppliers through all phases of projects.
- Provide on-site support during machine build, debug and testing/qualification.
- Supervise installation and testing to verify requirements and specifications are met.
- Draft qualification protocols and support equipment qualification activities.
- Develop manufacturing solutions with the best combination of manual, semi-automation and/or full automation. Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow.
- Implement cost effective automation solution.
- Support new product development automation needs, facilitate assembly processes through the implementation of assembly cells and automated equipment at NPI stage and ensure meeting development timeline.
- Interface with customers and functional owners on product development issues regarding automation. Conduct design-for-automation analysis and provide detailed recommendations.
- Participate in design reviews and provide status reports as per established schedule.
- Prepare and maintain documentation related to the operation of the automation equipment.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or science.
- Requires a minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, including broad based management and supervision.
- Previous management experience, leading other managers.
- Experience in an FDA regulated manufacturing environment (Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, Food or Consumer industries).
- FDA Audit Experience (Preferred).
- Experience with high volume, automated manufacturing (Preferred).
