Job Summary
The Product Development Chemist/Engineer will be based in Northfield, MN . This person will support Product and Design engineering services/activities which will include prototype building, management, and coordination.
What a typical day looks like:
- Designing & developing adhesive systems, both solvent- and water-borne, used in making laminates for electronic, aerospace, and general industrial applications.
- Assessing new raw materials (films, foils, resins, curatives, additives) for suitability and performance.
- Performing failure analysis using a variety of instrumentation and be an in-house expert on the scientific instruments (SEM, EDAX, FT-IR).
- Fabricating small-volume tape, laminate, or flex circuit orders.
- Evaluating and reporting results of validation runs, using statistics and data analytics.
- Developing, writing, and implementing new procedures and specifications.
- Assisting with the development and delivery of customer presentations and interface with customers.
- Managing outside process and/or component vendors.
- Participating in, leading when necessary, small group activities.
- Occasionally directing the work of technicians.
- College degree in a science-related field. Chemistry, Materials Science, or Engineering preferred.
- 1-3 years of related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in most common PC-based applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc).
- Knowledge in adhesives used in making thin-film laminates (prefer)
- Roll-to-roll manufacturing experience. (prefer)
- ERP experience in Oracle & Agile. (prefer)
- Quality systems knowledge and understanding, e.g. IATF / ISO (prefer)
