Job Summary
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Mechanical Design Engineer located in Austin TX.
Reporting to the Automation Manager , the Mechanical Design Engineer will be designing, validating, and implementing innovative and cost-effective product solutions of complex scope to support the organization in prototype development through full-scale production.
What a typical day looks like:
- Proficient in SolidWorks for 3D modeling of automated equipment and developing new material applications.
- Tolerance Management experienced in tolerance stack-up analysis for design accuracy.
- Skilled in creating and managing bills of materials and sourcing parts.
- Interacts with customers on industrial robots to meet their needs.
- Analyzes product failures to identify root causes and develop solutions.
- Conducts and supervises tests to ensure product quality.
- Designs and oversees manufacturing processes to maintain integrity.
- Defines techniques for constructing and joining materials.
- Assesses technical specifications and costs for design alignment.
- Monitors material performance and deterioration.
- Reviews product plans and recommends suitable materials.
- Conducts training on new materials and manufacturing methods for customers.
- Plans and evaluates projects in collaboration with engineers and executives.
- Oversees technologists, technicians, and engineers to ensure project success.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- 3+ experience Mechanical Design
- SolidWorks, ISO/IEC 17025:2017 certification (preferred)
- Electronic Assembly, Materials, Processes Standards
- Advanced mathematical concepts, and apply mathematical operations to analyze and ensure the robustness of assigned designs
- Advanced mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.
- Strong Microsoft Office and Excel knowledge.
