Overview
First Citizens Bank's Community Development Finance team (CDF) is responsible for executing on elements of the Bank's Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) strategy through the origination and management of Community Development Loans and Investments. The Senior Relationship Manager, reporting to the Director Relationship Management will play a critical role in the Bank's CRA activities. The individual in this role will be responsible for maintaining a network of high-value client relationships and originating and managing CRA-eligible community development loans and coordinating with colleagues on associated multi-investor and proprietary fund investments to achieve the Bank's robust CRA goals.

- Sales & Marketing - Maintain relationships relevant for the market team and, as assigned, in other markets around the US that FCB serves; the pipeline projects must fit the credit risk profile and strategic goals of the Bank. Manage effective network of internal and external relationships to enhance the client experience. Customer Focused - Knowledgeable of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and able to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions. Attend local and national industry events.
- Risk Management - Manage risk/return and drive quality for new and/or existing clients. Review loan pipeline and portfolio for compliance with CDF guidelines. Partner with managers and Credit Administration to ensure strategic alignment with credit, financial and market objectives. Oversee strong portfolio quality and ensure sound risk and asset management practices; surface and troubleshoot issues in a timely manner. Assist with portfolio management for all originated loans, including assisting with relationship management post-closing as needed.
- Loan Underwriting, Preparation and Closing - Prepare, or oversee an associate in the preparation of, preliminary loan underwriting and credit approval process for RFP responses, and commitment letter and term sheet submittals. Oversee preparation and submittal of credit approval packages. Lead loan term negotiations with client, other lenders and investors, and internal Bank stakeholders. Work with outside counsel to manage legal documentation with co-lenders to be consistent with approved term. Complete financial underwriting and structuring, and co-lender negotiations. Manage construction loan due diligence collections and review all due diligence to confirm that it meets bank standards and is consistent with underwriting requirements. Prepare credit reviews of clients, including analysis of borrowers' financial and social impact data.
Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of experience in Deep knowledge of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) industry; Experience structuring complex, publicly assisted taxable and tax-exempt debt and LIHTC-supported multi-family real estate projects with many financial parties; Strong credit and financial analysis skills.

High School Diploma or GED and 7 years of experience in Deep knowledge of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) industry; Experience structuring complex, publicly assisted taxable and tax-exempt debt and LIHTC-supported multi-family real estate projects with many financial parties; Strong credit and financial analysis skills.
Preferred Education: Master Degree
Preferred Area of Study: LIHTC-industry-related field (e.g. business administration, finance, economics, planning or real estate)
Preferred Area of Experience: Community development banking; LIHTC equity investing/syndication; LIHTC project development
Skills: Knowledge of all facets of the community development business - to include sponsor outreach and relationship maintenance; funding source timetables and parameters; project and pipeline status; credit and underwriting parameters and processes; legal and closing processes
