Senior PKI Engineer (NC, NJ, AZ, SC)

Overview

This is a remote role that may be hired in several markets across the United States.

**Remote with ability to travel to Raleigh, North Carolina, Phoenix, Arizona or Morristown, New Jersey, on an as needed basis.

The position is responsible for overseeing the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) service across the organization, ensuring robust and secure management of digital certificates. This role entails technical leadership, strategic planning, and mentorship of junior team members, aligning PKI services with the broader information security framework of the company.

Responsibilities

• PKI Management & Leadership: Take full ownership of the PKI service, overseeing the design, implementation, and management of the infrastructure. Provide strategic direction and ensure PKI services align with organizational vision, security policies and standards, and industry standard best practices.
• Technical Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior PKI engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment and promoting professional growth within the team.
• System Enhancement & Optimization: Drive continuous improvement in the PKI service by upgrading existing systems, integrating new technologies, and optimizing certificate lifecycle processes to enhance security and efficiency.
• Program Oversight: Manage system capacity, availability, and resilience as part of normal production operations and continuous monitoring activities. Ensure robust tier four level support is maintained.
• Collaboration & Partnerships: Establish strong relationships with key vendors, industry peers, and relevant authorities to stay informed about the latest trends and advances in PKI technology. Collaborate with internal teams to integrate PKI with other security and IT systems effectively.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in Systems Engineering, Network, or Information Security OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in Systems Engineering, Network, or Information Security

Preferred Education: Master's Degree
Preferred degree discipline: Information Security, MIS, Computer Science/Engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and grow a technical team.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate across departments.

Managerial Functions:

• Team Development: Manage the performance, training, and professional development of the PKI team.
• Operational Excellence: Ensure the team achieves key performance indicators, project deadlines, and service level agreements through effective management and strategic direction.
