Regulatory Reporting Governance Lead (Hybrid)

Overview

This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office.

The position is responsible for aiding the Head of Regulatory Reporting Governance with oversight and monitoring of the Regulatory Reporting business unit. This role is crucial in ensuring that Regulatory Reporting adheres to all relevant internal and external policies and regulations. This is a high-visibility position with direct access to the Head of Regulatory Reporting, Head of External Reporting, and other senior leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in developing, implementing, and monitoring Regulatory Reporting policies and procedures to ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines and standards.
  • Collects cross departmental data to be used in constructing and defining standardized performance and risk-based metrics, indicators, and scorecards.
  • Prepares presentations to communicate effectively and succinctly to senior management, internal/external auditors, and our regulators including the Federal Reserve Bank, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the NC Commissioner of Banks.
  • Prepares, documents, enhances, and maintains Regulatory Reporting governance processes and control documents.
  • Develops standardization frameworks and guiding principles for the department.
  • Assists in the monthly and quarterly production of meeting materials for the Regulatory Reporting governance forums and management meetings.
  • Coordinates and liaises with the Regulatory Reporting independent testing functions and 2nd and 3rd line-of-defense associates to ensure Regulatory Reporting meets regulatory and compliance expectations.
  • Assists in the end-to-end issues management process by ensuring issues are effectively identified, monitored, reported, and escalated as appropriate.
  • Supports the department's compliance risk assessments to identify issues, concerns, and deficiencies.
  • Helps monitor, track, collect and report updates on observations identified by the Federal Reserve, other U.S. regulatory authorities, and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd lines-of-defense until successful closure.
  • Develops and conducts Regulatory Reporting training as appropriate.

Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in GAAP Accounting, Financial analysis, Financial Reporting OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in GAAP Accounting, Financial analysis, Financial Reporting

Preferred Education: Advanced Degree

Preferred Area of Experience: Axiom SL Controller View

License or Certification Type: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Designation Preferred; Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Preferred

Skill(s): Understanding of financial products (e.g. loans, securities, derivatives, etc.), Understanding of regulatory reporting instructions and banking regulations, Ability to lead projects/initiatives with high risk and complexity, Ability to read and interpret regulatory guidance and instructions and assess applicability to the Bank

Other Preferred qualifications
  • Prior experience in a bank or financial institutions with assets greater than $100B.
  • Knowledge of the FR Y-9C, FFIEC 031, FR 2052a, FR Y-14Q, FR Y-14M and FR Y-15
  • Strong experience in developing senior and executive management communication packages, meeting materials and presentations.
  • Knowledge of Regulatory Reporting best practices.
  • Knowledge of governance policy and standards writing.
  • Experience in implementing risk management and internal control practices.
  • Strong adaptability to change.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (strong PowerPoint skills an absolute must).
  • Knowledge of the COSO Framework is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to present to senior management in a clear and concise manner.
