First Citizens Middle Market Banking delivers a range of financial solutions to midsize clients through a relationship banking model. The business offers deposit solutions, loans, treasury services and other banking products to manufacturers, distributors and a wide variety of service industries.
The Managing Director Underwriter Porftolio Manager Middle Market Banking is responsible for the leadership and development of Middle Market Banking operations. Creates business strategies that enhance service capabilities, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. Develops and implements best practice methodologies across the department. Establishes strong productive partnerships between business partners to facilitate daily operations. Develops and executes new initiatives, directing all planning and training efforts to achieve project success. Provides personal leadership and expert direction on all processes, systems, and policies within the division.

Responsibilities
- Business Oversight - Directs all Middle Market Banking Underwriting & Portfolio Management functions to ensure timeliness, efficiency, and high service standards. Reviews loan servicing systems, technology, and procedures for all areas to identify areas of improvement. Responsible for the department operational budget. Provides guidance to a team of managers on complex, escalated issues.
- Business Strategy - Develops and implements strategic plans that meet the Bank's short and long-term loan support objectives. Leads new operational processes and initiatives that drive positive change. Partners with other members of the senior leadership team to encourage productive collaboration between department teams. Participates on committees and special projects to offer expertise, insight, and direction.
- Risk Mitigation - Protects the Bank's assets by reducing operational risk and ensuring compliance throughout all activities with applicable regulations. Works closely with auditors, loan review teams, and examiners in reviews of Middle Market Banking operations. Coordinates necessary changes to systems and controls across all areas.
- Managerial Functions - Establishes and monitors expectations to achieve company and department goals. Makes appropriate changes to policies, procedures, and efficiencies in order to meet objectives. Manages the performance, training, and evaluation of assigned staff. Maximizes department achievements by providing professional development.
Required:
Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of experience in Credit Analysis, Portfolio Management, Credit Underwriting, Risk Management OR High School Diploma or GED and 14 years of experience in Credit Analysis, Portfolio Management, Credit Underwriting, Risk Management
Preferred:
- MBA, or Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics
- Middle Market Banking, Finance experience
