Overview
This Second Line of Defense role is responsible for assessment and oversight of risks taken by the Bank at an advanced level of ability. As head of the Governance Documents Oversight team, provides leadership, consultation, and support for the development and review of frameworks, policies, and standards (collectively, Governance Documents) to staff and stakeholders. Establishes and adheres to internal controls for the development, management, and control of Governance Documents. Maintains a strong knowledge of Governance Documents development and management trends through professional networking and industry involvement. Develops collaborative partnerships with all business units and stakeholders to support the company's Corporate Governance Framework and Risk Management Framework.

Responsibilities
- Risk Management - Leads the planning, execution, and review of Governance Documents oversight processes and new document management system. Collaborates with other key stakeholders across the organization to manage adherence to Corporate Governance Framework and Governance Documents Development and Management Policy. Maintains productive influential relationships with all levels of management. Communicates risk vision and regulatory requirements to stakeholders. Develops relationships and remains active within professional networks to stay abreast of current and emerging issues. Develops management reporting for Governance Documents, integration related activities, and other special projects.
- Staff Management - Manages the recruitment, training, and development process for staff. Provides guidance and education in the development of Governance Documents. Provides day-to-day management of Governance Documents Oversight staff including accountability for ensuring work product quality.
- Education and Training - Partners with business units to ensure implementation of and compliance with Governance Documents Development and Management Policy. Leads development and implementation of Governance Documents training to staff and stakeholders. Supports management through the promotion of risk awareness with stakeholders across the Bank including risk presentations, workshops, and roadshow materials. Develops and implements supporting business unit procedures as necessary.
- Committees and Projects - Provides Governance Documents support for Risk programs and initiatives. Participates as a risk advisor on project teams or committees to provide guidance on best practices, processes, and regulatory requirements related to the development and maintenance of Governance Documents.
- Audit and Regulatory Support - Manages preparation activities for Internal Audit and regulatory exams related to Governance Documents, and participates in related meetings. Partners with stakeholders to ensure components are received in a timely manner for posting prior to exam start.
Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in Operational Risk Management and Enterprise Risk Management, or regulatory guidance pertaining to Enterprise and Operational Risk (e.g. FDIC, risk and control frameworks like COSO, Basel) OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in Operational Risk Management and Enterprise Risk Management, or regulatory guidance pertaining to Enterprise and Operational Risk (e.g. FDIC, risk and control frameworks like COSO, Basel)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in risk management, governance, or related roles
- 5+ years of experience in developing Governance Documents
- 5+ years of banking industry experience
- 5+ years project management experience
- Highly proficient in time management, planning and prioritization; ability to manage changing priorities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention for detail
- Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter
- Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills with the ability to articulate complex issues in a clear and concise manner
- Proven experience in preparing and presenting to senior management
- Strong understanding of risk management frameworks and best practices
- Ability to manage well under pressure and tight deadlines and work well with changing priorities
- Intermediate to Advance MS Word experience, including headers/footers, table of contents, formatting, style application, etc.

The base pay for this position is generally between $110,000 to $180,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
