This is a remote role open for multiple markets across the United States.

The Cloud Adoption Lead will be a vital part of First Citizens Bank's Cloud Services team, tasked with guiding the bank's application teams through the transition to cloud-based environments. This role combines technical proficiency with leadership to drive the adoption of cloud infrastructure, reference architectural patterns, and modern cloud solutions. The ideal candidate will be adept at empowering application teams to manage their own infrastructure, while also aligning cloud adoption strategies with the bank's technology goals. This is a challenging and strategic role that demands both deep technical skills and strong leadership qualities.

As a Cloud Adoption Lead, you will be responsible for leading cloud engineering initiatives, aligning cloud strategies with organizational goals, and overseeing the team of engineers. You will provide guidance to application teams, facilitate cloud governance, and introduce emerging technologies to ensure that First Citizens Bank remains at the forefront of cloud solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership (30%): Lead a team of cloud engineers, providing mentorship, assigning tasks, and supporting their professional growth. Facilitate the adoption of cloud best practices and ensure alignment across the team.
  • Strategic Planning and Innovation (15%): Develop and implement cloud adoption strategies that align with the organization's goals, emphasizing scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Architecture Oversight (15%): Review and validate architectural designs produced by senior and junior engineers, ensuring they adhere to best practices and meet project requirements.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration (15%): Partner with internal stakeholders, such as application and business teams, to prioritize projects, gather requirements, and communicate progress effectively.
  • Cloud Governance & Process Improvement (10%): Define, develop, and enforce cloud governance policies, operational standards, and best practices to foster efficient workflows.
  • Emerging Technologies (10%): Stay up-to-date with emerging cloud technologies and introduce innovative solutions to keep the environment modern and ready for future demands.
  • On-Call Support (5%): Provide 24/7 on-call support to ensure the reliability and availability of cloud infrastructure.
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Multi-Cloud OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Multi-Cloud
Additional Requirements
  • Proficiency with AWS and Azure Cloud Services.
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Helm).
  • Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, ArgoCD).
  • Strong networking, compute, and storage solutions experience.
  • CI/CD pipelines and Git for version control.
  • Policy as Code tools such as Sentinel and Open Policy Agent.
  • Advanced understanding of cloud and network security best practices.
  • Strong programming and automation experience (JavaScript, Python).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: At least 12 years of experience in cloud engineering, with a focus on large-scale cloud adoption and multi-cloud strategies.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional.
  • Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
  • HashiCorp Certified: Terraform.
  • Azure DevOps Engineer Expert.

If hired in Arizona, the base pay for this position is generally between $159,000 and $216,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
