Overview

This is a hybrid role (if located in Charlotte, NC or Raleigh, NC) with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office. Three days a week in office. Open to remote in several markets for highly qualified candidate.

This position leads the company's top-of-house ACL execution and governance process. This role is responsible for leading the development, execution, and continuous improvement of ACL reporting, analytics, and insights. This role ensures the accurate and timely reporting of credit loss reserves, enhances data visualization capabilities, and drives strategic analysis to support decision-making across Finance, Risk, and Business teams. The Director will lead efforts to improve reporting automation, strengthen governance, and provide critical insights into portfolio performance, reserve drivers, and macroeconomic impacts on ACL estimates. Works closely with business leaders and project teams to strategically manage risk through data insights, partnering on new tactics or policies that improve risk management capabilities. May provide leadership and guidance to less experienced members of the management team.

Responsibilities

  • ACL Reporting & Governance: Oversee the production and distribution of ACL reporting packages for senior leadership, Finance, Risk, and regulatory stakeholders. Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of ACL data used in financial statements, regulatory filings, and investor disclosures. Develop and maintain governance frameworks for ACL reporting, ensuring compliance with CECL, GAAP, and regulatory expectations. Establish and enforce data quality controls, reconciliations, and validation checks to enhance reporting accuracy.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Provide in-depth analysis of ACL trends, reserve movements, and key drivers impacting loss estimates. Perform scenario analysis and stress testing to assess the impact of macroeconomic changes, portfolio shifts, and model assumptions on reserves. Enhance analytical capabilities by leveraging data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to create intuitive dashboards and trend reports. Collaborate with Finance, Risk, and Model Development teams to refine ACL methodologies and ensure reserve estimates align with portfolio dynamics.
  • Process Improvement & Automation: Identify and implement automation solutions to streamline ACL reporting processes, reducing manual effort and operational risk. Partner with Technology and Data teams to enhance reporting infrastructure, ensuring scalability, accuracy, and efficiency. Develop self-service analytics tools that allow stakeholders to access key ACL insights in real time. Standardize reporting templates and documentation to improve consistency and transparency across the organization.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Finance, Risk, Treasury, and Business teams to align ACL analytics with broader enterprise objectives. Support executive and board-level discussions by providing clear, data-driven insights into reserve trends and financial impacts. Act as a subject matter expert on ACL analytics, advising stakeholders on key risk factors, economic influences, and modeling implications.
  • Model Risk & Governance: Partner with model development, risk, and finance teams to assess model performance, support validation, and implement enhancements.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Mentor and develop a high-performing team, fostering expertise in ACL reporting, analytics, and industry best practices.
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of experience in Risk Management or Analytics in Financial Services industry and management role OR High School Diploma or GED and 14 years of experience in Risk Management or Analytics in Financial Services industry and management role

Preferred Education: Advance DegreePreferred Area of Study: Quantitative discipline

License or Certification Type: Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information Systems Auditor, or CyberSecurity Forensic Analyst certifications

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with reporting automation and dashboard development
  • Familiarity with ACL data infrastructure and risk reporting tools
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., tableau, Power BI)
  • Proficiency in analytical programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, SAS)
  • Strong project management skills to drive initiatives related to process improvement and regulatory compliance
