Overview
This is a hybrid role (if located in Charlotte, NC or Raleigh, NC) with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office. Three days a week in office. Open to remote in several markets for highly qualified candidate.
This position leads execution of ACL processes for the retail credit portfolio. This role ensures the accurate and efficient calculation of credit loss reserves in compliance with CECL (Current Expected Credit Loss) accounting standards, regulatory expectations, and internal risk policies. The Director will drive operational efficiency, support model governance, enhance reporting capabilities, and lead cross-functional collaboration to strengthen ACL execution. Works closely with business leaders and project teams to strategically manage risk through data insights, partnering on new tactics or policies that improve risk management capabilities. May provide leadership and guidance to less experienced members of the management team.

Responsibilities
- ACL Execution & Oversight: Lead the end-to-end execution of ACL processes for retail credit portfolios. Ensuring timely and accurate reserve estimates in accordance with CECL, GAAP, and regulatory expectations. Oversee the monthly and quarterly reserve estimation process, ensuring alignment with portfolio trends, macroeconomic conditions, and model outputs. Maintain governance and controls around key ACL assumptions, methodologies, and qualitative adjustments.
- Reporting & Analytics: Oversee the preparation of ACL reporting packages for senior management, Finance, Risk, and regulatory stakeholders. Provide insights into key drivers of reserve changes, portfolio performance and macroeconomic impacts. Develop dashboards and analytics tools to enhance ACL visibility and facilitate data-driven decision-making. Support stress testing, scenario analysis, and capital planning efforts by integrating ACL insights into broader risk management frameworks.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a strategic partner to Finance, Risk, Treasury, and Business teams to align ACL execution with broader financial and risk management objectives. Engage with external auditors, regulators, and industry working groups to stay ahead of evolving requirements and best practices. Represent ACL execution in governance forums, executive meetings, and risk committees, effectively communicating key reserve drivers and risks.
- Model Risk & Governance: Partner with model development, risk, and finance teams to assess model performance, support validation, and implement enhancements.
- Team Leadership & Development: Mentor and develop a high-performing team, fostering expertise in ACL methodologies, regulatory standards, and industry best practices.
Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of experience in Risk Management or Analytics in Financial Services industry and management role OR High School Diploma or GED and 14 years of experience in Risk Management or Analytics in Financial Services industry and management role
Preferred Education: Advance DegreePreferred
Area of Study: Quantitative discipline
License or Certification Type: Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information Systems Auditor, or CyberSecurity Forensic Analyst certifications
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with retail credit products (e.g., credit cards, auto loans, mortgages)
- Familiarity with ACL automation tools and data infrastructure
- Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., tableau, Power BI)
- Proficiency in analytical programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, SAS)
- Strong project management skills to drive initiatives related to process improvement and regulatory compliance
