Responsibilities
Job Description -
- Reporting to the Sr Manager Database, the Sr/PostgreSQL DBA will be the primary technical resource in developing and maintaining Finastra's large database infrastructure. Your primary responsibility is to manage Finastra's client facing databases in Azure (PaaS/IaaS) deployments.
- Prepare PostgreSQL roadmap for the future, comfortable in acting as product owner, manage stake holders across the organization.
- The incumbent is responsible for building/managing business critical PostgreSQL Databases in Azure PaaS maintaining, enhancing, and tuning existing and new PostgreSQL databases, and supporting production operations.
- You are an experienced PostgreSQL DBA with 6+ years of experience in managing databases of various sizes, on-prem/Azure/Cloud PostgreSQL.
- Working experience with cloud infra preferably with Azure.
- Should have working experience on Oracle databases.

Experience Requirement -
- Strong Hands on 6+ year experience in database administration of PostgreSQL, developing, documenting, and advocating best practices.
- 2-3 Yrs working experience in Oracle databases 12c/19c .
- Mentor and share best practices on PostgreSQL within team.
- Managing / supporting PostgreSQL Azure PaaS/IaaS configuration specifically Azure Flex-server.
- Some knowledge of other servers/flavors of PG databases in Azure, like Cosmos DB for PG(Citus)
- Experience in setting up HA/DR/Replication in on-prem/ Azure-PaaS/IaaS models.
- Setting up backup/recovery, Performance tuning, enabling monitoring/alerting for PostgreSQL database on-prem and cloud.
- Experience with tools like pgadmin and psql. Shell scripting/ some automation experience.
- Build best practices/standard and provide guidance to the development team regarding database design and usage.
- Strong In-depth knowledge of PG internals.
- Demonstrated experience writing complex stored procedures and queries.
- Develop automation technologies to speed up loading data into the end target.
- Design and develop relational databases.
- Develop appropriate corrective actions to resolve production data issues, not limited to performance tuning, recovery etc.
- Design database schema to meet new enhancement requirements.
- Develop ETL strategies for integrating or migrating data from multiple sources
- Proven experience with integration from Oracle to PostgreSQL.
- Experience in operational and incident management / resolution.
- Enhanced documentation skills - Prepare SoP / best practices to be shared with the team.
Skills & Knowledge :
- University degree/College diploma in computer science or a related field of study.
- Ability to troubleshoot and, diagnose and resolve complex database issues.
- Good understanding of the differences between OLTP and OLAP systems and the different physical modeling and design considerations needed for each.
- Knowledge of any of the following would be advantageous:
