Responsibilities

Position Overview

The role of this position is for a Senior Systems Engineer's (Storage) to provide support for the implementation, configuration, and migration of storage/systems from multiple legacy SAN storage solutions to new Hitachi arrays. This project consists of migration within multiple geographic locations, and includes configuration of storage replication between geographies for disaster recovery purposes.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Hitachi storage systems, Brocade storage switches, and EMC based SAN solutions. Linux administration would be a definite asset. The project will require weekend and evening work to support migration activities.

• Configuration of Hitachi enterprise storage systems (Experience with Dell EMC beneficial)
• Configuration of Brocade enterprise storage switches (Experience with Cisco MDS beneficial)
• Understanding and experience with enterprise storage replication (Hitachi HUR / HORCM)
• Support and execute migration of storage between multiple SAN platforms / technologies
• Familiarity with volume management (VMWare, *NIX)
• Monitor, troubleshoot, administer, and tune storage systems
• Install and configure technology components as per the design or vendor specifications
• Participates in project scheduling and planning activities
• Participates in the development of test plans and test cases, and conducts system testing of technology components
• Assess impact of scope changes
• Participate in migration and configuration activities, off hours as required by project initiatives (weekends/evenings)
• Documents build and run books for Steady State Operations

• Degree or Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• One or more certifications in the corresponding, or equivalent experience: SAN / enterprise Storage technologies
• Minimum 4 years' experience deploying, managing, and administering enterprise storage solutions
• Minimum 2 years' experience managing and administering Hitachi SAN
• Minimum 4 years' experience configuring and support Brocade Storage Switches
• Strong background with Cisco MDS Storage Switches a benefit
• In depth knowledge of network protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, ARP, HTTP, HTTP/S, FTP, NTP) is required
• In depth experience with an array of clustering technologies, encryption, and virtualization technologies
• Knowledge of monitoring technologies and best practices
• Strong understanding of ITIL and change management policies and procedures
• Ability to express oneself clearly and logically, both written and verbally
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a high level of focus on customer service
• Experience with VMware vSphere, ESX and vCenter products an asset

• Evening and weekend work scheduled to support the project requirements / timelines
• Possibility of travel to data center to support migration activities
