Job Summary:
The Senior Payroll and Accounting Specialist will be responsible for managing all aspects of payroll processing and accounting for our Canadian operations. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with extensive experience in payroll systems and accounting practices, ensuring compliance with all federal and provincial regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Management:
- Process bi-weekly/monthly payroll for Canadian employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
- Maintain payroll records, including earnings, deductions, and taxes.
- Handle payroll inquiries and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
- Ensure accurate and timely year-end reporting (e.g., T4s, T4As).

- Prepare and maintain financial records, including journal entries, general ledger accounts, and financial statements.
- Conduct regular reconciliations of payroll-related accounts.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Support the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll regulations, including Employment Standards, Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requirements, and other relevant bodies.
- Prepare and submit required tax filings and remittances.
- Generate and analyze payroll and financial reports for management review.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in payroll and accounting procedures.
- Stay updated on changes in payroll and accounting regulations and ensure the company's compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 4-5 years of experience in payroll processing and accounting, specifically within a Canadian context.
- Proficiency with payroll software and accounting systems.
- Strong knowledge of federal and provincial payroll regulations.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
