Job Overview:

Finastra's Payments BU is strategic enterprise business unit which serves global, regional, and mid-tier banks for back-office mission critical payments processing. Our products are built primarily of full Java stack which are being modernized into micro-services-based cloud native technology stack. The current technology stack includes App Server(JBoss/WildFly), Database (Oracle), Java 11, MQ, JSP/Angular UI which is being transformed to cloud native open source technologies i.e. K8S, Micro-services, Kafka, Apache Camel, VertX, Grafana, Prometheus, PostgreSQL in an evolutionary approach.

This role is to manage technology platform roadmap for these products. The role will lead team of Technical Product Owners and junior product manager to run this function. The person will report to head of large enterprise product management.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Technical Strategic Roadmap Management:

  • Develop and maintain a strategic roadmap in collaboration with the CTO, that addresses technical constrains, market and customer needs.
  • Building business cases for ROI on new technology, new features. Builds value propositions, pricing for new features / modules.
  • Technology Roadmap Alignment:
    • Ensure that everyone, from engineers to stakeholders, is on the same page regarding product priorities and timelines.
    • Regularly update and revise the product roadmap to reflect changes in the product strategy, vision, or market conditions.
    • Evangelization of strategy and technical roadmap with customers/prospects.
  • Dev/ops and deployment strategy / roadmap definition.

Technology Stack and Customer Change Management:

  • Capturing and maintaining product and customer technology stack across versions. 3rd party tech stack management including follow up on EOL, EOS for each component, evaluate/manage 3rd party risks, new versions, upcoming features, and understand dependencies.
  • Track technology advancements, evaluate the impact to product and planning of technology stack changes.
  • Customer consultations and communications about technology changes.
  • Tracking, documentation, description of impact on technology for customers, professional services, solution consulting teams.

Total Cost of Ownership Management:

  • Define product deployment sizing template and update as per every release.
  • For hosted customers, track hosting costs with IT teams, evaluate technology roadmap to optimize hosting costs.
  • For on-prem customers, identify key elements of hosting costs, work at reducing deployment footprint, reduce 3rd party costs to reduce the TCO for customers.

Product Non-Functional Requirements and Design:

  • create and own the product technical backlog and the related Product Requirements Document (PRD).
  • Define product requirements for performance, security, entitlements, scalability, technical infrastructure aspects with help of Product owners and junior product managers.
  • Define dev/ops requirements, identify deployment strategy in coordination with CTO DevOps teams.

Team and Stakeholder Management:

  • Manage team of product owners and product manager.
  • Work closely with engineering, product, and technical architects.
  • Collaborate on technical designs, technology architecture decisions.
  • Collaborate with Professional Services teams on implementation challenges and new requirements from customers.
  • Work with Pre-sales, product marketing, and sales teams to aid in sales processes for technology features, architectures of the products.

Skills, Experience, and Capabilities

  • Customer Engineering graduate/post-graduate with minimum of 15-20+ years of experience in Java based technology architecture, development.
  • Experience with enterprise payments hubs, their deployments in banking enterprise architecture is desirable.
  • Deep understanding of mission critical OLTP BFSI systems performance, deployments, security, DevOps, scalability is critical.
  • At least 5-7 years' experience in product and program management function who understands roadmap, releases, pricing, commercial product management.
  • Expertise in cloud native java technology stack i.e. K8S, Micro-services, Kafka, Angular JS, Oracle, MQ, Rest APIs, Apache Camel, VertX, Grafana, Prometheus, PostgreSQL is a must.
  • Ability to manage small team of product owners and junior product managers.
  • Customer and executive facing presentation skills, negotiation skills,
