Job Description:
The Role
The VP, Real Estate Investments will partner with the Real Estate Investment Officer and the Head of Direct Real Estate to execute on a plan to acquire commercial real estate in the US on behalf of various FMR fund vehicles. This will include sourcing the opportunity, managing the underwriting, negotiating with the seller, presenting the opportunity to investment committee, running the due diligence process, closing the transaction, leading the property-level financing process, and assuming asset management responsibilities for initial acquisitions.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred
- Minimum of 10 years work experience in commercial real estate required; majority within investment roles
- Strong professional relationships throughout the US real estate industry
- Recent relevant investment experience in US commercial real estate across various asset classes; Asset Management experience a plus
- Strong writing and presentation abilities

Primary Responsibilities
- Source real estate investment opportunities that meet portfolio criteria (asset class and risk/return) across target markets through existing network or broker relationships
- Review and underwrite proposed opportunities
- Negotiate and structure real estate acquisitions and property level financing
- Prepare analysis of opportunity and materials for investment committee approval, present opportunities to committee for approval
- Review and approve legal, operational, environmental, engineering and appraisal reports created as part of the due diligence process
- Assume asset management responsibilities for initial acquisitions and partner with the broader Real Estate to build an in-house asset management team.
- Contribute valuable knowledge of US real estate markets
- Build and maintain appropriate pipeline of opportunities
- Manage and develop investment analysts and associates
