VP , Full Stack Engineering - Python | AWS | GenAI

The Role

The Advanced Strategies and Research (ASR) Quant Development team within Fidelity's Asset Management Technology group is seeking a highly motivated and curious VP of Full Stack Engineering. In this role you will build the foundational platform and services that enable GenAI applications for investment management. You will partner closely with technologists and business partners to tackle complex problems at the intersection of software development and artificial intelligence!

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • A hands-on technical leader with experience developing teams and solutions to their full potential
  • Professional experience building scalable systems with deep knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, event-based services, data pipelines, and orchestration
  • Expertise in object-oriented programming (OOP) and design patterns
  • Experience in at least one unit testing framework and understanding of test-driven development (TDD) concepts and methodologies
  • Skilled in a range of database technologies: SQL (Oracle & Snowflake), NoSQL, Graph, Vector
  • Professional experience working in AWS using infrastructure-as-code (CloudFormation)
  • Demonstrated experience implementing CI/CD and DevOps best practices
  • Proficient in containerization with Kubernetes and Docker
  • A creative problem solver and a curiosity fueled by keeping up with advanced technology and industry trends, especially in the GenAI community
  • A grasp of logic- and ML-based AI techniques for knowledge extraction, representation and reasoning. Expertise in combining symbolic, logic-based representations (e.g. knowledge graphs, ontologies) with informal, text-based domain content to solve business problems
  • An understanding of how to deliver into production GenAI applications that can reliably process information in open-ended settings, e.g. by playing off state-of-the-art LLMs (from OpenAI, Google, Anthropic) against each other.
  • A track record of managing the "exploration vs exploitation" tradeoff to deliver innovative solutions for first-of-a-kind problems.
  • Deep expertise in Python, data-centric AI (ML) techniques, particularly as applied to text, tables, documents. Excellent knowledge of standard tools of the trade for machine learning engineers.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with a knack for explaining complex system concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Bachelors or equivalent with 15+ years of experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent

The Team

The Quant Development team is part of Asset Management's Quantitative Research & Investment Technology group. We partner with Asset Management's Advance Strategies and Research team on cutting edge projects including systematic investment strategies, portfolio construction, risk management, alpha research, and generative AI. We build high quality, robust, and highly-scalable solutions that are used to improve Asset Management's efficiency and decision-making processes.
The base salary range for this position is $124,000-$262,000 per year.
Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate's relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
