The Role
At Fidelity Institutional Wealth Management Services (IWMS), we are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to lead and drive our end-to-end Solution Architecture practice for our IWMS Platform Data, Reporting, and Integrations. In this role, you will work directly with Product Area Leaders (PAL), Chapter Leaders (CL), and Squads across our organization to craft solutions that meet business priorities and initiatives that help drive IWMS digital modernization effort. The IWMS Platform Data, Reporting and Integrations domain is comprised of a diverse group of product areas, squads and deployment teams that create, enhance, and manage several key platform capabilities that support Fidelity's Custody and Clearing client base. The Domain delivers scalable, secure and personalized tech solutions that complement our core platform experience and bring the breadth of Fidelity's offering to our Registered Investment Advisor, Broker Dealer and Family Office clients. - Integrations Xchange, an award-winning developer experience and fintech marketplace. This digital store provides seamless access to a suite of Fidelity APIs, data transmissions, and other third-party fintech capabilities, enabling our clients to connect, design, and build their own services and experiences
- Integration capabilities, including APIs, data transmissions, direct data externalization, single-sign on, fintech integrations and deployments, and more.
- Client reporting, insights, and analytic capabilities, available through our web and mobile enabled Wealthscape Professional application. This includes alerts, notifications, statuses and next best actions driven off platform and firm data.
- Platform security, identity and user management capabilities, and entitlements and configuration systems
- Platform billing capabilities and foundational solutions and databases that support the overall Wealthscape platform ecosystem
- Integration with other internal platforms and tools that are provided to or broadly support our wealth management clients (e.g., OpXWorX)
IWMS is a leading provider of Custody and Clearing services to RIAs. Fidelity Investments holds $14.1 Trillion in assets under administration (Q2 2024) and its platforms supports 3.3 Million daily average trades (Q2 2024).
The Expertise You Have and The Skills You Bring
- Education - BS or MS required.
- 10+ years of experience in building distributed systems & applications and at least 3+ years with Cloud technologies.
- Confirmed successful experiences leading, mentoring, and developing a team of highly skilled solution architects.
- Experience architecting demonstrating standard methodologies for cloud enabled, high throughput, distributed enterprise platforms.
- Knowledge and experience with Legal, Risk, Compliance, and Cybersecurity concerns to ensure safe and secure treatment of our enterprise, client, and end investors information.
- Excellent technical expertise and communication skills, both through written and verbal channels, to drive and participate in significant discussions.
- The ability to provide technical leadership and hands on day-to-day solution to agile teams in preparing the design artifacts and implementation of solutions.
- Ability to analyze business direction and problems, understand long term vision and risk to develop strategy and guide technical solutions. Work closely with Product/Application teams in technology evaluation, selection, recommendation, and configuration.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with product managers, architects and technical leads for individual products and applications and challenge decisions made with a focus on IWMS long term strategies.

- Ability to formulate a strategy and to communicate the strategy to a large organization effectively to drive broad consensus and adoption
- Strong influence skills but also a willingness to change direction when called for
- Solid grasp of cloud services and how they can be used in end-to-end integration patterns
- Financial industry experience preferred / Understanding of Clearing and Custody business is desired
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Good interpersonal, negotiating, and influencing skills with a demonstrable ability to engage at all levels of the organization, especially senior management.
- Ability to translate business needs into technology solutions.
- Knowledge of continuous integration, static code analysis and test-driven development.
- Enabling digital transformation of IWMS capabilities and platforms
- Communicating and collaborating with key partners to accelerate our mainframe platform migration.
- Decisive leader that can multi-task to address technical issues, establish standards and strategies.
The Team
The IWMS Architecture team provides deep technical expertise to the broader Engineering community, delivering solution architecture mentorship as well as cross-organization technical architecture guidance (enterprise architecture). The Enterprise Integration Architecture team is encouraged to identify, define, and promote common solutions to integration challenges for our IWMS technology and business partners through close collaboration and partnership to improve the impact that technology can have on business goals and objectives. Fidelity's hybrid working model blends the best of both onsite and offsite work experiences. Having the majority of our associates work onsite is important for our business strategy and our culture.
