As the Senior Manager, Software Engineering within National Charitable Services you will have the opportunity to work within Giving Marketplace. Our team operates much like a start-up within Fidelity, to develop capabilities for users/participants to donate time, expertise and money to non-profit organizations.

You will lead a team of engineers in the delivery of both business and technical initiatives. This is a delivery lead role where you will work closely with product owners, scrum masters, architects, and outside engineering teams to deliver high quality technology solutions to meet our customer needs. In an agile structure, you will partner with other Fidelity leaders to influence the broader strategic decisions, roadmaps and resource requirements, set and refine the mission. You will ensure alignment on the "what" and "when" work that is to be performed through ongoing planning and prioritization of a product backlog. You will be applying your strong software development and test automation skills to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve the Fidelity Charitable many solutions, thinking and working across Fidelity.

You will also be responsible for growing and developing a high performing engineering team, who are driven and autonomous in nature. You will support the development of a healthy team culture that retains your team members and encourages their professional development and career aspirations. You will enable squad members to work iteratively, innovate through testing and experimentation and learn from failures while celebrating success. You are committed to developing your own expertise and knowledge to ensure you bring the latest thinking to your role and empower others with that knowledge.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field (or foreign education equivalent)
  • 8+ years of full-stack development experience with architecting, designing, developing and maintaining multi-tier internet facing web and microservice applications and APIs using Angular, Node JS, Nest, Java/J2EE, REST, Spring, GraphQL, MySQL (Aurora Cloud DB, etc.) and proper test automation frameworks in a fast-paced Scrum environment
  • People management experience where you were responsible for hiring, performance management and career development of engineering associates
  • Familiarity with AWS services architecture and solution patterns is preferred
  • Experience and knowledge of cloud solutions, serverless architecture, containerization strategies, as well as web apps landscape and emerging technologies
  • Experience in DevSecOps standards, best practices, and tools like Jenkins or Jenkins Core, Git/GitHub
  • In-depth knowledge of secure coding standards, modern digital experience platform and architecture, and sound development principles using trunk-based development, feature toggles, etc.
  • Experience of balancing business and TLM needs with sound judgment, evaluating broad business issues and engaging appropriate parties at all levels.
  • Strong technical background on crafting and developing enterprise digital applications with micro service architectures
  • An understanding of modern software development practices such as infrastructure as code, test automation, CI/CD, containerization, etc.
  • Demonstrates effective leadership skills & strong delivery skills in a fast-paced environment using agile methodologies
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills to facilitate collaboration across technology and business partners at all levels of management across multiple business units
  • Coach team members to fulfil their potential, and ensure a culture of continuous learning

The Value You Deliver

  • Collaborates with Product Management to understand business requirements for upcoming Roadmap Initiatives
  • Drives the definition of solutions for these Initiatives with Architects & Technical Leads
  • Translating business objectives into strategy and approach, prioritizing backlogs and sprints, defining the business process and KPIs, and keeping partners advised of plans and progress
  • Demonstrating an agile mentality in partnership with Product Area Leader and peer Squad Leaders to achieve broader business objectives
  • Making informed trade-off decisions to strike the right balance between quality, cost, and timelines
  • Works with the other BU's and shared services teams such as ECC, ECS, EI, WI and PI Engineering and Operational Teams to iteratively deliver quality solutions to our customers
  • Promotes engineering best practices, architectural standards, and consistency
  • Ensuring code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing are completed efficiently and effectively
  • Provides outstanding support, including on-call support when necessary
  • Manages technology vendor relationships
  • Works with their Scrum Master on improving cycle time and throughput for the team
  • Monitors team effectiveness and addresses issues affecting team productivity
  • Guides and mentors team members on personal growth and career progression

Fidelity's working model blends the best of working offsite with maximizing time together in person to meet associate and business needs.
