Position Description:

Leads, builds, tests, designs, and supports digital account opening platforms in the clearing custodian and managed account business using .NET, C#, Java, SQL, and Angular in a Spotify Agile model. Analyzes and recommends changes using performance analysis tools - Ants Profile and Catchpoint. Communicates technical designs and capabilities to non-technical team members, product owners, and partners. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development team and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Develops and supports applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.


  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and developing applications to clearing and custodian account opening technologies in a financial services environment.

Or, alternatively, Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and developing applications to clearing and custodian account opening technologies in a financial services environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") performing full-stack development and architectural design to maintain multi-tier internet-facing digital account opening Web applications (for the clearing and custodian business) using .NET frameworks - C#, Java, Angular, jQuery, and SQL; and executing a domain driven approach by creating Domain Model, APIs, shared components, dependency injected modules, and architectural layers using .NET Core and Angular.
  • DE integrating systems with large strategic financial firms and building end-to-end processes comprised of accessing data from Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools (Envestnet, Genesys, eMoney, Sun Trust, and Salesforce); sourcing and transmitting account opening parameters to multiple systems in a financial service environment; and enhancing application performance in a Spotify Agile software development model by driving meetings, testing, reviewing, running creative retrospectives, writing and developing stories, conducting automation (Cucumber Serenity or JAVA), and presenting (DEMO to stack holder).
  • DE performing end-to-end activities by conducting requirement gathering and tracking using JIRA; writing technical documents; tracking code changes using GIT, Tortoise SVN, and BIT Bucket; defining database layer queries using SQL, Sybase, and DB2; conducting troubleshooting by adding levels of logging and tracing to Splunk tool; publishing reports using SQL Server Reporting Service (SSRS); conducting data integration and transformation using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS); reviewing application performance using ANTS Profiler and catch point RUM; and providing application support/solutions, creating efficient and automated production support tools, and reducing technical debt by upgrading and migrating Non-Permitted Technologies (NPT).
  • DE building responsive Web applications to consume RESTful JSON Web services, SOAP Services, .NET Core API, and DocuSign API using IIS/Tomcat application server and C# or Java-based middle layer; and performing secure application development by participating in PEN-Testing, build, and deployment using Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tools - Jenkins, Maven, and uDeploy.

Salary: $152,069.00 - $162,069.00/year.
