Position Description:

Develops enterprise-wide data capabilities to support Fidelity's Unified Customer Profile (UCP) platform; executes Object-Oriented programming and maintains software design by leveraging SQL, PL/SQL, stored procedures, indexes, and data service development tools. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

• Defines and implements application level architecture.

• Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.

• Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.

• Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.

• Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.

• Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.

• Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.

• Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.

• Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.

• Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.

• Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.

• Advises senior management on technical strategy.

• Mentors junior team members.

• Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.

• Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Full Stack Engineer (or closely related occupation) executing data modeling, developing Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), and building data capabilities to scale within a financial services environment using distributed data technologies.

Or, alternatively, Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Full Stack Engineer (or closely related occupation) executing data modeling, developing Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), and building data capabilities to scale within a financial services environment using distributed data technologies.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") constructing RESTful APIs by leveraging tools -- Java, Spring framework, and Dropwizard; supporting API-to-database connection management by employing database drivers -- Relational Databases (Oracle and PostgreSQL) and NoSQL Databases (DynamoDB, Elastic Search, and Graph DB), and distributed database applications using Oracle; and tuning Oracle PL/SQL stored procedures by analyzing SQL statements and using Snowflake.


  • DE improving API design and microservices patterns by leveraging messaging technologies -- Kafka, Kinesis, SNS, and SQS; and building automation pipelines by leveraging DevOps concepts and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools -- Maven, Jenkins, Deploy, Stash, and Ansible.


  • DE developing solutions and re-platforming legacy applications within cloud-based architectures -- Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Azure; and working in Agile methodologies -- Kanban and SCRUM.


  • DE conferring with systems analysts and software engineers and developers to design systems and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces; and developing and overseeing software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.
