Position Description:

Develops Application Program Interfaces (APIs) by leveraging tools - Java, Spring MVC, Spring Core, SpringBoot, Web Services (SOAP/REST). Builds and deploys applications in a DevOps environment using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools - Git/Bitbucket Server (Stash), Jenkins, and uDeploy. Builds and supports server-side components us REST API and backend SQL, Stored Procedure Components. Uses Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS) for cloud-computing and cloud services. Performs Domain Driven API design, Swagger or Open API Specifications and API Lifecycle management.

  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.


  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.


  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.


  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.


  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.


  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.


  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.


  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.


  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.


  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.


  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.


  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.


  • Mentors junior team members.


  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.


  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Full Stack Engineer (or closely related occupation) designing and creating backend REST APIs and Event Driven microservices using Java and Spring framework.

Or, alternatively, Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Full Stack Engineer (or closely related occupation) designing and creating backend REST APIs and Event Driven microservices using Java and Spring framework.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") designing Swagger REST API contracts using Enterprise Swagger Editor; developing REST APIs and Event-Driven Java components using Java, Core Spring, and Spring boot in IDEs including Spring tool suite; and using Node Package Manager (NPM) to install and leverage node based CLI tools including Azure Functions CLI.


  • DE integrating Java applications with Stored procedures using MYBATIS ORM framework and Oracle provided 'Pool Data Source' module; and improving performance and scalability by refactoring existing API, event-driven microservices by leveraging Java functional programming constructs including parallel streams and using project reactor for reactive streaming.


  • DE creating build system for Java applications with clean, vulnerability-free, lightweight dependency tree using Maven; building container images and deploying these containers into various deployment environments including Azure Kubernetes and Azure functions service using Docker CLI and Jenkins groovy script; and creating and maintaining Source Code Management repositories using Enterprise GitHub and Bitbucket with properly established release strategies and branch tagging.


  • DE preparing deployment and back out plan for DB Object Production deployment as a document using text editors including Visual Studio Code; preparing Oracle SQL Scripts, deploying fixes, and SQL back out scripts using Oracle SQL Developer; and ensuring backward compatibility when migrating corresponding Java artifact to various environments by designing and reviewing Stored procedure signatures using Oracle SQL Developer.
