Multiple Positions Available

Designs and deploys applications that leverage the latest innovations to build performance driven systems that address business needs, meet stakeholder requirements and comply with regulatory restrictions and guidelines, utilizing resources available on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure & Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), focusing on high-availability, fault tolerance, and auto-scaling. Performs the design, implementation and administration of Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, YugabyteDB, MongoDB, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, Aerospike and Snowflake database environments running on-premises and in the public Cloud.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical guidance on the design and implementation of complex databases.
  • Documents design, operational procedures, and standards for highly complex/business critical databases.
  • Tests and implements new design features for general use.
  • Defines and evaluates database maintenance tools and build processes.
  • Establishes performance tunes criteria and methods in coordination with internal and external technical resources.
  • Designs, evaluates, and performs highly complex database performance and functionality tests.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects.
  • Provides technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains policies, procedures, and techniques in order to minimize future incident occurrence.
  • Defines security requirements and operational procedures to ensure network integrity, physical protection, and authorized access to the network and applications.
  • Develops business cases to justify information security architecture initiatives.
  • Enforces storage management standards. Defines the scope of change and impact to other interfaces.
  • Creates high level architecture design for the enterprise.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Modifies exists databases and database management systems or collaborate with programmers and analysts to make changes.
  • Develops methods for integrates different products so they work properly together such as customizes commercial databases to fit specific needs.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Database Administrator (or closely related occupation) performing database architecture and administration across Cloud environments.

Or, alternatively, Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Database Administrator (or closely related occupation) performing database architecture and administration across Cloud environments.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") architecting and designing data platforms using Oracle, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, YugabyteDB, or MongoDB, both on-premises and in the Cloud including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
  • DE building performance-driven systems that address business needs, meet stakeholder requirements, and comply with regulatory restrictions by implementing Database Vault, Data Redaction and Masking, Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), SSL/TLS, Native Database Auditing using jSonar or Guardiam.
  • DE evaluating and acquiring resources based on project requirements, and implementing continuous data replication using Oracle GoldenGate, Apache Kafka, Azure Data Factory, or Data Migration Services (DMS) on AWS, Azure, or Oracle Cloud platforms.
  • DE implementing Linux and database version upgrades for Tier-0 systems as part of Technology Lifecycle Management (TLM), both on-premises and in the Cloud using Real Application Testing (RAT) or SQL Performance Analyzer (SPA).
