Job Title - Lead - Operating Systems Programming

The Purpose of This Role

  • Provide technical and systems support to Mainframe CICS systems. Work with senior level business and technology partners to define and implement CICS solutions. The person will be responsible in deploying RSU maintenance and CICS systems upgrade.

The Mainframe CICS group provides a variety of services related to CICS at Fidelity. Those services might include but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Design operational and transactional CICS solutions that meet the functional and non- functional business requirements.
  • Interface with Technology Operations and infrastructure groups to plan and manage changes in the production environment.
  • Analyze complex CICS/Systems problems and implement solutions and/or workarounds.
  • Project coordination and planning
  • Evaluation and recommendation of software products in CICS
  • As a CICS Lead Operating Systems programmer, install, maintain, and provide 24X7 support for CICS and other related products.
  • Participate in periodic Disaster Recovery tests.
  • Participates in the evaluation, selection, and piloting of new technologies.
  • Work with a wide range of teams across various issues, locations, and time zones
  • Provide cross training to peers in the CICS Support group.
  • Work closely with other departments within Fidelity and act as interface between the CICS group and the other technical teams coordinating their upgrades/projects/deliverables.

Technical / Behavioral

  • Provide support on CICS System Programming for customers.
  • Performed CICS upgrade and maintenance.
  • Upgrade and Production Support of various ISV products from various vendors like IBM, CA & Compuware products.
  • CICS Production Support team for problem and incident management, disaster recovery, sustained resiliency, LOB testing events, and capacity planning requirements as needed.
  • Drive innovation-research of new features and functionality available in our software/hardware and prepare a plan for rolling these innovations out to our LOBs.
  • ISV Installation, Customization & Maintenance of various ISV products
  • Participate and perform successful DR test.
  • Setup and maintain CICS regions.
  • Day - to - Day support for problem determination and resolution of system software related to incident and problem tickets raised by customer or other technical teams.
  • Coordinate CICS related activities with other technical teams like Storage, Security, MVSetc to satisfy the requirements of business.
  • Check with vendors for various ISV products to get the resolution for product related issues, getting license related information etc.
  • Experience with CICS advanced features and functionality (Ex: CPSM, LOGR, Web Services, SSL) and ability to collaborate with application developers on application design.
  • Support for highly available, sysplexed CICS environments on zSeries.
  • Installation, maintenance, and administration of CICS software. Manage deployments of maintenance releases and emergency maintenance.

  • Knowledge of Assembler
  • Knowledge of VSAM replication tools like IIDR
