The Value You Deliver
The Institutional Portfolio Manager (IPM) will play an integral role in addressing institutional client needs through a solutions-based approach. As the external facing member of the portfolio management team the IPM will primarily interact with Finance and Investment Committees, Boards, and Business Offices of endowments, foundations, non-profit organizations and Pension/Investment Consultants to drive new business opportunities and service clients through investment policy discussions, capital market reviews and investment solution positioning and performance reviews.

The IPM will work in close partnership with the portfolio management, research, thought leadership, finance, legal, marketing, product and distribution teams. This level of integration is critical to provide:
- Depth of investment insight to effectively communicate externally as an extension of the portfolio management team
- Transparency and understanding of the investment process, including but not limited to Money Market mutual funds
- Capital market perspectives that influence investment solutions and strategy
- Marketplace credibility to represent the portfolio managers and investment process as well as the overall Fidelity organization most effectively in client, consultant, and industry conference speaking engagements
- Ongoing feedback on marketplace perspectives, developments, and competitor trends to the investment and distribution organizations to enhance investment and business platforms
- Investment infrastructure / product management support to improve investment solution offerings and implementations, including marketing, client reporting and product / solutions positioning

The IPM will have:
- Investment acumen to understand how portfolios can be structured to achieve client goals; Asset class expertise across global public and private market investments with emphasis on Money Markets
- Advanced problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple internal business groups and external clients and consultants
- Advanced client communication skills in delivering asset solutions to institutional clients
- A desire to contribute to thought leadership efforts - articles, speaking, research - to support Fidelity's institutional business
The Skills & Experience You Bring
Experience and Education:
- 10-15 years of investment industry experience
- Successful track record of institutional solutions analytical work and investment management strategy implementation to a broad spectrum of institutional constituencies
- CFA designation preferred but not required
Skills and Knowledge:
- Relevant Fixed Income investment experience and demonstrated understanding and views of both money markets and bond markets and their market structure
- Thorough understanding of rule 2a-7 which regulates Money Market funds
- Highly effective and consistent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to successfully articulate detailed mechanics of client issues/analytics and investment solutions to institutional clients
- Comfort and ability to work in a highly collaborative environment, with a frequent focus on gaining consensus across a broad spectrum of investment management, distribution, product management and senior management constituents
- Capability to balance resolve and temperament in response to pursuing opportunity through organizational structure
- Ability to present investment process, portfolio strategy and investment information in a clear and effective way to both internal and external constituents
- High level of enthusiasm for discovering new investment opportunities and considering investment strategies
- Meticulous attention to detail; strong ability to prioritize and manage time
- Ability to assist distribution partners with materials and/or in meetings, to share market views, portfolio capabilities, performance, and related perspectives
- Ability to travel frequently, with an overall expectation on average of 20-30% travel
