Head of Health Benefits

As the Head of Health Benefits, you lead the team responsible for the portfolio of health and well-being (H&W) benefits offered to Fidelity associates. You will collaborate with leaders of the Financial/ Retirement and Work/Life benefits teams to continually reimagine our offerings. You also work with Legal, Procurement, Consulting, Communications, FREC, and Workplace Investing to implement improvements.

You own all aspects of the H&W portfolio, including strategy, design, operations, and execution. You will develop a multi-year strategic roadmap in which you detail benefits program redesign, RFPs/market scans, new program implementations, vendor relationship management, and Annual Enrollment.

You will also have responsibility for the financial governance of the H&W portfolio, including annual budget forecasting, modeling of associate contribution scenarios, development and ongoing management of benefits purchase orders, oversight and quarterly review of benefits fringe calculations and IBNP, and monitoring of vendor spend and performance.

You will engage with internal and external business partners and industry groups to evaluate market trends, benchmarking, thought leadership, and emerging vendors and solutions to make recommendations for future improvements to the current H&W benefits portfolio.

You will mentor, coach, and provide hands-on support to your team in the day-to-day operational execution of the plans, including annual legal plan filings, management of content on the benefits intranet site and other benefits communications, and support for operational issues and member concerns.

In this work you positively influence the associate experience, ensure plan compliance, prudently govern the financial investment in the benefits portfolio.

The Experience and Skills You Bring

  • Experience leading a H&W portfolio of benefits programs and vendors, both strategically and operationally, in a large corporate environment
  • Passion for designing complex, market-leading programs on a large-scale in a changing environment
  • Experience leading direct and indirect reports; ability to mentor and guide team members while empowering them to take ownership
  • Willingness to consider alternative viewpoints and opinions
  • Strong, accurate, and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build data-driven business cases, develop presentations, and brief internal partners, including at the leadership and executive level
  • Intellectual curiosity to stay current on the benefits market to evaluate and recommend emerging solutions
  • Ability to partner with consulting and industry group partners to assess trends and opportunities
  • Experience with planning and implementation of new benefits or improvements to existing programs
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, prioritize, pivot, and lead multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment while delivering timely results
  • Ability to analyze complex data, interpret results, and tell the resulting story (using insights from an external data warehouse and direct vendor data)
  • Excellent financial skills to lead all aspects of budgeting and cost management of programs
  • Ability to demonstrate the effectiveness of the H&W portfolio, as well as performance toward defined metrics and financial objectives
  • Experience with high deductible health plans, including familiarity with associated design considerations and requirements to maintain IRS-qualified HSA status
  • Experience designing, implementing, and evaluating programs geared toward improving the overall well-being of associates, including the use of onsite health clinics and other various point solutions
  • Experience managing vendor relationships, performance, and contracts/service level agreements, and ownership for resolution of issues and development of solutions
  • Clear understanding of employer benefits design, benefits administration, and benefits contract language, including but not limited to HIPAA, ADA, ACA, ERISA, and COBRA guidelines and practices
  • Ability to resolve member concerns while protecting the integrity of the plan, and confidence to lead conversations directly with plan members/associates regarding these situations
  • Focus on growing associates' understanding of, and engagement in, the benefits programs that are available through the portfolio

Fidelity's hybrid working model blends the best of both onsite and offsite work experiences. Having the majority of our associates work onsite is important for our business strategy and our culture.
