Director/Chapter Leader - Software Engineering
Location: Westlake, TX
Hybrid: 2 weeks per month in office
The Purpose of Your Role
As a Defined Contribution/Workplace Platform Quality Engineering Director/Chapter Leader, you blend deep knowledge of quality engineering practices and strong engineering skills with a passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing associates. You are deeply committed to improving the value delivered to our customers. In an agile structure you will collaborate with other leaders to establish the standards for your chapter, influence the strategic decisions and build solutions in your expertise. You will directly manage a team of chapter members who primarily work within autonomous squads across product areas yet report directly to you. You are dedicated to helping them grow and develop in their knowledge area and ensure alignment on the "how" of the work they perform. You are committed to developing your own expertise and knowledge to bring the latest thinking to your role to empower others with that knowledge.

The Experience You Have:
- 10+ years' experience in Directing Quality Engineering/Product Ownership and managing the overall testing effort of QE Test Engineers
- Proven leadership experience with support of large program/product delivery across a globally distributed team.
- Deep technical expertise with confirmed ability to drive technical solutions and automation frameworks/pipelines such as Selenium, Playwright, Rest Assured, Karate, etc.
- Investment as an Agile change agent to continuously improve and encourage an agile way of working
- Proven track record as an outspoken peer leader with peer coaching and strong communications and presentation skills working on collaborative teams to deliver high quality data solutions.
- Uses a data-focused approach to decision making, in day-to-day leadership and strategic tradeoff analyses
- Authentic investment in implementing and sustaining quality gates with an audit and governance approach
- An intellectual curiosity and passion to learn new skills and modeling a culture of continuous learning, mentoring, and coaching
- Proactively partner with Chapter Area, Product Area, Center of Excellence, and Squad Leaders to:
- Influence strategic backlog and prioritization decisions related to your area of expertise
- Measure performance through established objectives and critical metrics and deliver agreed upon business, technology, and people results
- Align associates across teams and product areas to ensure the best utilization of talent while also building learning opportunities and content to develop skills
- Set and apply standards and ensure the work performed is aligned with established road maps
The Skills you Bring:
- 10+ years of Technical Excellence: Participate in building the culture of outstanding software engineering practices for the modern Cloud platforms
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain strong multi-functional partnerships and relationships at all levels of the organization
- Practical experience with quality engineering fundamentals such as test automation, data virtualization, and CI/CD integration
- BS or MS degree in a technical field such as computer science/engineering or related field
- Software testing certifications preferred (ISTQB, CSTE, CAST, ICP-ATA, etc.)
