The Role
Fidelity Capital Markets (FCM) is seeking a director-level associate to join the Equity Trading division. This role will have two primary focus areas, product strategy and product management, and will offer a unique opportunity to work across Fidelity and directly impact the strategic direction of Fidelity's equity trading offerings!
Product Strategy - You will be responsible for creating and driving forward a complete equity trading product strategy for the client segments that have multiple touchpoints across Fidelity: retail investors, registered investment advisors, broker-dealers, and corporations. This strategy should both support Fidelity's growth and improve the customer experience! While you will rely on stakeholders across the division, and often across the broader Fidelity, to create and implement this strategy, you will ultimately be responsible for bringing it to life. - Define the current offering of products and services provided to these client segments
- Conduct market, customer, and competitive research and define a desired state for the offering that is supported by robust and data-driven hypotheses
- Create a strategic plan for getting to the desired state
- Create a process that allows Fidelity to continuously monitor progress of the strategic plan, pivot when new information arises, and prioritize new opportunities
Product Management - You will also be the Squad Lead (Product Manager) for one of the technology squads that supports the FCM Equity Trading division. This squad is responsible for FCM Equity Trading's proprietary real-time surveillance system, which surveils the division's trading systems in real-time with the goal of detecting and alerting on potential issues or risks as soon as possible; it is a critical risk management tool for the division. To be a successful Squad Lead, you will:
- Partner with internal stakeholders to define an innovative multi-year product strategy and roadmap, with clear objectives and metrics
- Define business requirements and prioritize the product backlog
- Lead the squad through all Agile events (e.g. Daily Stand-Ups, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Retrospectives, Demos, Quarterly Planning, etc.)
- Work with and empower all members of the squad
- Continuously have an eye for ways to more effectively manage risks
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in business or a quantitative field (e.g. engineering, data analytics, etc.) Master's degree a plus.
- Series 7 and 63 licenses within 6 months of hire
- 5-10 years of professional experience in product strategy or product management roles. Experience in equity trading industry is a plus.
- Professional experience using the Agile product management methodology
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and sense making skills that can be used in conjunction with a forward-thinking mentality to create robust strategies and innovative equity trading solutions
- Strong data analytics skills with the ability to distill insights from large datasets
- Preferred professional experience working with sophisticated technical systems that have zero margin for error
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills with an ability to translate and present complex topics to wide audiences
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships and interact/influence/negotiate effectively at all levels of management and peers
- Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple sophisticated projects simultaneously
- Self-starter who embraces pace over perfection and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
- Great teammate with a positive attitude and the desire to constantly work across the firm
The Team
Fidelity Capital Markets is the trading arm of Fidelity Investments. The FCM Equity Trading division provides equity and options trading products and services to a wide array of Fidelity's clients. The team's mission is to use the strength of its common core platform & capabilities to deliver the best execution experience in the industry at scale and enable Fidelity and its partners to grow and acquire the next generation of customers. This role is on the Product and Trading Solutions team within FCM Equity Trading which is responsible for strategy, program management, and product management across the division.
The base salary range for this position is $110,000 - $185,000 per year.
Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate's relevant experience, and other factors.
Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
