Chapter Leader, High Income and Alternatives Investment Technology

The Role

High Income and Alternatives Technology team is looking for an experienced, motivated, collaborative, and customer-focused Chapter Leader with a passion for coaching and leading engineering teams. In an agile structure you will collaborate with other leaders to establish the standards for your chapter, influence the strategic decisions and build solutions. You will directly lead a team of chapter members who primarily work within autonomous squads across product areas. You are committed to developing your own expertise and knowledge to bring the latest thinking to your role to empower others with that knowledge.

The High Income and Alternatives Technology team manages and develops technology platform that supports our high yield investment team with over $100B of client assets in US high yield debt, emerging market debt and a growing list of high yield alternative credit products.

  • Ensuring chapter talent composition and workforce planning aligns with strategic business priorities
  • Supporting and empowering chapter members to enable delivery of increased value in their teams through continuous improvement and learning
  • Enabling an agile and frictionless organization by demonstrating agile behaviors
  • Proactively partnering with Chapter Area, Product Area, Center of Excellence, and Squad Leaders to:
    • influence strategic backlog and prioritization decisions
    • collaborate with Product Area leadership team to reduce technical debt and modernize applications
    • measure performance through established objectives and KPI's
    • continuously focus on improving stability and resiliency of applications and batch processes
    • relentlessly work on improving engineering standards and quality
    • align chapter members across squads and product areas to ensure the best utilization of talent
    • build learning opportunities and learning day content to develop associate skills
    • set and apply standards and ensure the work performed is aligned with established road maps
    • remove impediments to delivering value
  • Actively sharing insights, knowledge, industry practices and developments across the organization

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science or related field
  • 10+ years of experience building various components of scalable enterprise applications
  • Technical leadership skills with a passion for engineering excellence, empowerment of individuals/team, innovation, continuous improvement, collaboration and must be someone who's eager to learn and teach every day.
  • Strong engineering mindset that will accelerate the team's journey towards our goal of being services-oriented, cloud-based, and devops-enabled
  • Experience leading, coaching, mentoring, and developing people and teams in an agile organization
  • Sharing knowledge and expertise within and outside of the chapter - ensuring the 'how' of the work performed by chapter members is aligned with established road maps and guardrails
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with which to build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Financial services experience, preferred
  • Decision making experience using a data-focused approach in day-to-day leadership situations and strategic tradeoff analyses
  • Understanding of the Salesforce.com, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and other Salesforce product areas is a plus.
