Position Description:

Leads teams in the deployment and scaling of large-scale, highly available systems using Flux and ArgoCD. Implements Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using Kubernetes, CNCF containers, and Open Source technologies. Builds and maintains Cloud hosted and native applications for the enterprise (Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Measures performance against established objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to deliver on agreed upon business, technology, and people results. Builds CI/CD pipelines with containers and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes). Sets and refines the mission and brings together a team of chapter members to execute on specific product features. Designs, develops, and modifies complex and major software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design. Building A/B testing and Multi-armed bandits systems for the developer tools to measure the performance of the systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Translates strategic objectives into actionable deliverables.
  • Builds, designs, develops, and maintains dynamic products or solutions at scale.
  • Defines, evaluates, and communicates results against acceptance criteria.
  • Inspects and evaluates progress to remove impediments.
  • Influences the broader strategic technology decisions, roadmaps, and resource requirements.
  • Makes informed trade-off decisions to strike the right balance between quality, cost, and timelines.
  • Creates and maintains CI/CD processes.
  • Improves value delivered by understanding and prioritizing customer needs.
  • Ensures processes are reliable and measurable by incorporating testing and instrumentation in workflows.
  • Enables and drives squad member growth, development, and learning.
  • Builds squad capacity and capabilities by collaborating and coordinating with Chapter Leaders and Scrum Masters across the enterprise.
  • Develops and directs software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.
  • Implements A/B tests and multi-armed bandits to scientifically optimize developer tools.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Information Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field and six (6) years of experience as Director, Cloud Engineering (or closely related occupation) creating developer platforms using container technologies (Kubernetes) and conducting A/B testing.

Or, alternatively, Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Information Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field and four (4) years of experience as Director, Cloud Engineering (or closely related occupation) creating developer platforms using container technologies (Kubernetes) and conducting A/B testing.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") developing and engineering Cloud support and integration using Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure; and creating platforms to run A/B testing on developer platforms by creating tools for measuring conversion rates.
  • DE preparing and presenting DevOps project solutions using GitOps tools and statuses to management and executives; and coordinating automated processes for container image rehydration, with groups responsible for applications, systems, and technical support using Keptn and Argo CD.
  • DE coordinating and reviewing applications for business application recovery using Kubernetes operators and Kubebuilder; scheduling, managing, and reviewing system component recovery testing using Cluster API; reviewing and updating disaster recovery and business continuance plans using Kustomize and Helm; researching production problems and coordinating remediation plans for security, risk, and audit actions using Istio; and coordinating weekend change activities using JIRA and Service Now.
  • DE developing, architecting, and managing Web based tools to reduce manual efforts and increase automation, using Go, Python, Angular, and Django Framework; and creating ad hoc utilities for database table and file comparison to locate dynamic data for automation, using Pandas, StatsModels, sklearn (for statistical analysis), and A/B testing or Multi-Armed Bandits (for optimization).
