Implements and maintains quality assurance protocols and methods. Designs methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of components and finished products. Demonstrates practical knowledge of products / components within assigned area to anticipate and prepare for possible non-conformances. Demonstrates knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, as applicable

Responsibilities:

  • Takes initiative to gather data to investigate potential non-conformances. Collects data and uses data collected by others
  • With minimal day to day instructions, conducts activities to support quality execution against key performance metrics. Responsible for regular monitoring / reviewing of business and operational processes to evaluate for continuous improvement opportunities
  • Acts as advisor to less-senior technicians and/or engineers / suppliers in vetting non-conformances
  • Completes audit training, as required
  • Understands key quality metrics and current performance levels. Uses technology to visually present data and analyses in meaningful ways
  • Leverages tools to simplify complex data or information to improve comprehension. Takes the initiative to create new adhoc reports to meaningfully represent business outcomes and drive decisions. May or may not recommend new standard reports based on data trends. Routinely summarizes information on defect data, process improvement data and analyses and recommendations to management. Participates in training technician and / or engineers within functional area by developing and deploying curricula and / or mentoring
  • May represent the unit on project teams. May perform in project leadership role on projects of limited scope and impact
  • Assists in building accurate schedules
  • Resolves a wide range of issues in innovative as well as practical ways
  • Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise
  • Interacts with management and external stakeholders on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred 5 -7 years work experience in quality engineering role in different manufacturing/repair fields and processes such as electronics (SMT/PCB assembly) and repair Education and training in quality disciplines is required
  • Well experienced in root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques such as 5-why's, 8-Discipline, Process Mapping, Ishikawa (Fishbone) diagram
  • Prepares and participates in the discussion of Corrective Actions (CAR/SCAR), Non-Conformance Report (NCR), and Continuous Improvement projects related to Quality
  • Lean Six Sigma training or similar certification / training preferred
  • IPC-A-610 Acceptability of Electronics Assemblies knowledge - certification not mandatory but preferred
  • Knowledge on Board Schematic and Board layout
  • Strong computer skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
