Description
The Payroll Staff Accountant will oversee the payroll functions of the organization, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. The Payroll Staff Accountant will also be responsible for bank and credit card transaction recording and reconciliations.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs general accounting and other related duties for the organization.
- Aggregate, analyze and convert data sources on a daily and monthly basis for internal/external reporting, accounting journal entries, and tax related items.
- Reconcile and prepare journal entries for cash and bank statement activity
- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing and accounting systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audits.
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll accounting software, systems, and procedures.
- Prepare monthly account reconciliation as assigned.
- Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Maintain prepaid expense account schedules, to include prepaid rent, prepaid insurance, and other prepaid items.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with payroll software.
- Must be precise and detail oriented
- Ability to multi-task and balance priorities to meet deadlines
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required.
- 3+ years of related experience required.
