    As a valued colleague on our Communications and Public Affairs team, you will provide expert advice and guidance on developing and delivering internal communication strategies. In this role, you will work closely with stakeholders to tell the Fannie Mae story, support change management and engagement, and help employees see the impact of their work in the results we deliver together. By engaging with compelling internal content, employees will connect with our mission and business strategy while also finding value in a long-term career at Fannie Mae.

    The Internal Communications Strategist- Lead Associate (Flexible Hybrid) role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own as you deliver on the following responsibilities:

    • Develop, deliver, and advise business division partners on internal strategic communications for the enterprise or for select business division audiences.
    • Partner with Marketing, External Communications, and Executive Communications colleagues on integrated communications.
    • Develop and manage strong working relationships with stakeholders across diverse portfolios.
    • Use communications best practices, implementing storytelling and data-driven insights to inform and improve communications strategies in support business outcomes.
    • Lead as an individual contributor to drive inclusion, constructive challenge, continuous improvement, and alignment throughout the Communications and Public Affairs team and across partnerships.
    • Serve as a mentor to early-career team members across the organization.

    Qualifications

    THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

    Minimum Required Experiences:

    • Minimum of 4 years working in Internal Communications in a corporate environment required.
    • Experience developing complex, strategic communications plans and successfully implementing them end-to-end across a business division or enterprise.
    • Advanced verbal and written communication skills, including copywriting and editing.
    • Ability to tailor communications to an author's voice and to targeted audiences - sharing relevant information in an authentic, clear, concise, and engaging manner.
    • Excellent relationship management and project management skills, with the ability to effectively influence and negotiate, facilitate meetings, and resolve conflicts.
    • Collaborative and team mindset with willingness to take a proactive approach to solving problems while being able to react and adapt quickly.
    • Experience helping an organization to plan and manage change, meet strategic objectives, and address employee sentiment and feedback.
    • Demonstrated strategic thinker who takes initiative and has solid decision-making skills.
    • Ability to track, measure, and analyze data, providing recommendations for improvement and adapting to evolving business needs.
    • Skilled in AP style writing and collaborating across Microsoft Office Suite applications.

    Desired Experiences and Skills:

    • Bachelor's degree in communications or public affairs preferred.
    • Strong executive presence, with prior experience supporting executive communications.
    • Understanding of corporate event planning, technology, and logistics.
    • Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and cooperatively with people of different functional expertise towards a common goal.
    • Ability to create and promote inclusive writing and messaging that resonates with a variety of audiences.
    • Adept at managing project plans, resources, and people to ensure successful project completion.
    • Passion for learning the business, building relationships, and understanding different areas of expertise across the organization.
    • Experience using SharePoint content management, Salesforce Marketing Cloud (or similar CRM), Adobe Workfront, or digital signage software a plus.
