The Position

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our specialised Performance Engineering team. This internal tooling team enables our software development teams to easily conduct performance & reliability testing at large scale. We enable continual performance testing to ensure maximum uptime and customer satisfaction throughout the sporting calendar!

In this role you'll get to see the benefit that you provide to your customers (our Performance Engineers and our other development teams) on a daily basis and see the positive impact and difference you can make to their working lives.

You'll have the opportunity to work across all areas at FanDuel, with a lot of variety in your work and space to innovate on the current technology platform. This role would suit someone who loves learning new technologies and solving problems creatively and practically!

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Testing, developing and deploying software and tools that support the performance engineering function, enabling reliability at scale.
  • Supporting both the Performance Engineers and the wider engineering function to successfully utilise the performance engineering tools and products.
  • Working with members of the development team to collaboratively design, build and test simple solutions to complex problems.
  • Fostering a collaborative environment, supporting and encouraging other engineers towards best practices, continuous learning and development.
  • Proactively bringing new ideas and solutions to the team, advocating for latest industry trends and technologies that would improve performance engineering capabilities.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance tools and processes that drive the success of our products, satisfaction of our customers (internal and external), and ultimately further business objectives.
  • Being comfortable with taking ownership of a service, with an emphasis on automation.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience with object-oriented programming languages (preferably Python)
  • Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and technologies, preferably AWS.
  • Familiarity with database integrations (SQL/NoSQL) and automated staging of test data.
  • Knowledge and experience with Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency in implementing, managing, and enhancing continuous integration pipelines.
  • Experience in application performance monitoring and management (telemetry, metrics, observability, performance analysis etc.)

What You Can Expect

  • Interesting work - working in a fast-paced and ever-changing industry, new problems and exciting solutions are never too far away. There are always opportunities to learn new skills and broaden your horizons
  • A sense of achievement - Our teams own their own software and when that awesome new feature ships to users and the positive feedback starts rolling in, you can feel really proud of what you and your team created
  • Personal development - clear and defined career pathways for every role at every level, a supportive manager, loads of learning opportunities and even 10% of your time to dedicate to your learning.
  • Belonging - everyone at FanDuel works for each other, we win together, make mistakes together and have lots of fun doing it.
  • Trust - A trusting work environment where productivity is valued above all else, giving you autonomy and ownership of your time and work
  • Great financial package - Including salary, bonus, pension, private healthcare, share save scheme, flexible working & holiday policy along with a number of other benefits.
