Plant Engineering Manager
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Plant Engineering Manager to lead the engineering, maintenance, reliability, and automation initiatives at our food processing facility. This role is instrumental in optimizing plant operations, enhancing equipment reliability, and driving continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering, with expertise in ammonia refrigeration systems and a proven track record of improving operational efficiency. This position collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless production and compliance with industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Operational Alignment
- Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for engineering, maintenance, reliability, and automation.
- Align engineering strategies with operational goals to support production efficiency.
- Collaborate with Operations, R&D, Supply Chain, and other departments to optimize equipment performance and cost-effectiveness.
Process Optimization & Performance Management
- Identify and execute initiatives to reduce waste, enhance efficiency, and improve quality.
- Monitor and analyze Key Performance Metrics (e.g., unplanned downtime, PM compliance, MTBF) to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead efforts in predictive and preventive maintenance to enhance equipment reliability.
Capital Project Management
- Oversee capital projects, including budgeting, scope development, and installation of new equipment.
- Ensure successful execution of equipment upgrades, retrofits, and replacements to meet performance and reliability targets.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with FDA, EPA, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the proper use of CMMS for asset management and maintenance tracking.
- Develop and maintain environmental compliance policies and programs.
Training & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering and maintenance team.
- Provide training on safety, regulatory compliance, and best practices in equipment maintenance and reliability.
- Foster a culture of innovation, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
Supervisory & Risk Management
- Manage all supervisory responsibilities, including hiring, training, performance management, and succession planning.
- Conduct risk assessments and participate in plant audits, ensuring follow-up actions are completed.
- Establish strong communication channels between engineering, maintenance, and operations teams for swift issue resolution.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
- Minimum 5 years of plant engineering experience, preferably in food processing or manufacturing.
Skills & Expertise
- Deep understanding of ammonia refrigeration systems, maintenance best practices, and reliability engineering.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in budgeting, cost control, and maintenance planning.
- Proficiency in ERP & CMMS systems (preferred), along with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive process improvements, and manage complex projects.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to foster collaboration and innovation.
