As the Director of Risk & Control Operations, you will oversee the first line business' risk and control function, ensuring understanding of regulatory requirements and organisational goals. Your leadership will set the strategic direction, manage the team, and coordinate important activities within the 1LoD Risk team, ensuring risks are managed and controlled across the business.

  • Leadership: Manage the risk and control team, providing guidance to team members, driving a high-performance SME culture.
  • Reporting: Improve BU accountability for risk, reporting on risks and control effectiveness to senior management and risk committees. Ensure accurate regulatory notifications (ICO & FCA).
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with partners, compliance, resilience, information security, and fraud teams to lead collaboration in risk management and control deployment efforts.
  • Policy Development: Provide feedback on the impact of policy developments on the business, ensuring costs for implementation are balanced with risk reduction/appetite.
  • Customer Outcomes: Support the exec in promoting a culture where good customer outcomes sit at the heart of all business activities.

Experience and Skills

What you'll need to bring to the role & Experian

  • Risk Management Expertise: In-depth knowledge of risk management principles and practices, with expertise in designing controls to mitigate identified risks.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: understanding of applicable regulations, standards, and compliance requirements within the industry (FCA, ICO, GDPR, etc.).
  • Communication Skills: reporting to senior management, influence partners, and explain complex risk and control concepts.

  • Proven experience in driving risk management strategy and control frameworks.
  • In-depth knowledge of risk management principles and practices.
  • Expertise in managing risk incidents and implementing corrective actions.
  • Experience with applicable regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Able to set strategic direction and align team goals with organisational objectives through effect communication and influencing
