Overview

In the role of a Technical Consultant, you will consult with customers on a broad range of geospatial and IT topics, often working autonomously to apply Esri technology best practices throughout the engagement life cycle. You will consult with customers to understand business needs and guide them on how to best apply Esri products/technology. You will configure and use Esri applications to meet specific business outcomes and be considered a subject matter expert on front-end, web-based technologies and a generalist on Esri's product landscape, including desktop and mobile applications.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with customers and partners to identify, design, and validate key GIS workflows for the ArcGIS platform
  • Apply platform configuration best practices and provide on-site and/or remote support to customers
  • Understand how Esri technology integrates/interfaces with customers' solutions vision
  • Familiarity with our customers' overall mission and operations including knowledge of common goals and initiatives, procurement cycles and business processes
  • Advise customers regarding innovative solutions using Esri technology and content that will enable them to make better decisions
  • Recommend relevant strategies, architectures, and solutions
  • Work with customers to prepare implementation and migration strategies
  • Present complex GIS technical demonstrations to various levels of staff in a diverse range of customer organizations
  • Use consulting skills to lead teams during all phases of implementation including requirements, analysis, design, build/configuration, and deployment

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in a similar position, supporting similar responsibilities
  • Professional experience designing, implementing, and/or administrating enterprise GIS solutions/systems that leverage the ArcGIS platform (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and ArcGIS Online)
  • Knowledge of geospatial and mapping concepts such as spatial analysis, map projections, and more
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas, whether to other technical peers or non-technical project managers or customers
  • Familiarity with system administration experience on Windows and/or Linux
  • Familiarity with network concepts and topics (such as domains, directories, DNS, HTTPS, firewalls, proxies)
  • Experience with current technology implementation patterns including service-oriented and cloud
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Mathematics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or STEM related field

Recommended Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional experience administrating and/or customizing GIS-related technology in a professional setting involving Python and SQL
  • Familiarity of GIS integration with other enterprise systems (such as ERP, EAM, CRM, SCM)
  • State and Local Government Industry experience ideal
  • Experience with modern software implementation patterns including service-oriented architectures, cloud environments, SAML and OAuth
  • Familiarity with system design concepts such as high availability, disaster recovery, load-balancing, and workload separation
  • Exposure to performance assessment and tuning techniques
  • Master's in Computer Science, Mathematics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or STEM related field

Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is

$74,880 - $150,280 USD
