Overview
Join the ArcGIS Pro Layout team as a Product Engineer to build software to help cartographers, data visualizers, GIS professionals, and others create impactful maps.
In this role you will help define and build the page layout, map series, print production, and page automation functionality for ArcGIS Pro. You'll work with developers and other product engineers to evaluate features, investigate customer issues, and program automated tests. You'll create and test add-ins and scripts that extend mapping capabilities and automate workflows. You'll use your cartography skills to make test maps, and your software skills to design and test layout features. This work will ensure ArcGIS Pro meets the demands of our user community.

Responsibilities
- Build and maintain realistic cartographic and desktop publishing workflows and projects to validate cartographic tools and processes
- Support web map printing workflows
- Ensure quality for all aspects of the ArcGIS Pro layout user experience by testing software functions, user interfaces, workflows, design functionality, and automation workflows
- Program automated test code and analyze test results. Report status on software quality and stability
- Help the team organize and prioritize work for maximum customer benefit
- Troubleshoot layout and export issues in current and past software versions
- Research and analyze export and print workflows, industry trends, and cartographic standards to establish and define user requirements
- Author and share code samples
- Test software extensibility by writing and sharing SDK add-ins
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience in cartography, GIS, or related engineering roles
- Demonstrated ability to write code in at least one if the following languages: C#, Python, Java, or JavaScript
- Familiarity with Esri products like ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage individual workloads efficiently while actively contributing to team priorities and project timelines
- Bachelor's in GIS, geography, computer science, or related field
Recommended Qualifications
- Knowledge of PDF, SVG, TIFF and other file formats
- Experience with software testing, test automation, and unit test authoring
- Familiarity with web mapping, especially web map printing workflows
- Knowledge of computer graphics or commercial database management systems
- Familiarity with agile software development methodologies
- Expertise with graphics and page layout applications such as Adobe Illustrator and InDesign
- Master's GIS, geography, computer science, or related field

Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is
$68,640 - $98,592 USD
